It is becoming more of an art to write dance music rather than to layer a bunch of loops on top of each other and call it a track. To me, good electronic music is like fine tuned jazz or classical pieces and will appeal to those who appreciate the intracacies in both the song composition and production. These are what I listen for in all types of music and this is what I strive to create within my own music along with a very distinguished mood in each song. If the music does not move you in some way what good is it ? If you are looking for just some emotionless, loud, formula based song composition there is still plenty of that out there too. "PROGRESSIVE" to me would suggest that something is continuing to move forward and push new boundaries. If in reference to music be it house, breakbeats or even rock, that is what I would expect to hear from an artist. If you are writing tracks just to sell millions of records then perhaps you have "sold your soul" to the music industry (and made progress in the name of the all mighty dollar).
