in an age where innovation is limited to genres of an already defined sound. thirdy3rd strays from the expectations of the normal with one soul purpose...raw creation. this collective consists of 3 lyricists and 3 producers, all combined and then divided among 3 individuals.
each member shares similar visions of music and in the same moment. contrasting styles and techniques which underlie their main path. the foundation of the thirdy3rd sound lies scattered on the outer edges of hiphop and drum n bass. their wordplay reflects poetic, spoken word style, galactic yet planetary rhyming.
with hiphop's degradation in the new millenium and lack of inspiration from it's name brand corporate image. it is often seen as stale by those with a critical view. from this divided perception derives hiphop's underground. an alternative to the surface or facade of what hiphop isn't. although this realm is intermittently tainted. this is where the art is born and where the artist remains.

Why this name?
side from having 3 core members the title thirdy3rd has many reflections of underground
theory and conscious thought. foremost, our earth is surviving as the 3rd planet from the
sun and exists 333,000 times smaller than the sun's own mass. the top optic logo
consists of 3 pyramids. each one possessing 3 sides and points. the centermost pyramid
encases an eye which embodies the now common philosophy of 3rd eye vision. in egypt, the
giza pyramid stands 33 feet taller than the other two and although continents are
drifting. the great pyramids now rest on the 33rd parallel of the global grid, sharing
that point with san diego half way across the planet.

Band History:
1989: relix knowmad and eyeronic armstrong write their first verse in relix' garage.1999(teamed up with belligerent flow and begin experimenting with electronic music. by then, they had already planted the seed that would spawn into what we now know as top optics thirdy3rd sector.
the next four years would be spent creating material, experimenting, developing and redefining their already unprecedented sound. the fusion of a three mind thought process plus the many styles of production, varying from faster tempos and breakbeats to samples and metaphors, earth to space, would clear a certain path of raw originality for this group to call their own.
it was only a matter of time before vinyl gurus, dj b.o.s and dj blaze would contribute their masterful turntable skills completing a fourth side to thirdy3rds pyramid.
2002: eyeronic releases solo cd.
2003: thirdy3rd releases earth (ep) & peace project (compilation).
thirdy3rd releases cycle7, the full length debut late 2003...
-jr perez (relix knowmad aka elixir) lyricist/producer.
responsible for tracks such as raw creation. damfam. water hiphop jungle and the already classic hipstep track frame by frame, etc. also known for driving vocals and flawless lyrics.
-matt rogers (eyeronic armstrong aka matty dread lyricist/producer/visual arts.
responsible for tracks such as breakthrough,
pangea ultima and contact, classics such as
three three r d and moving' etc.
known for the visual aspect of thirdy3rd: fliers, cd covers and website.
-kevin watts (b-flo aka beligerent flows) lyricist/producer.
responsible without question for the verbal images on tracks such as knowmatic, earth,
the gods, moving', as kings, etc. he has blessed every track thirdy3rd has laid down.
also in the works: he is currently producing his solo ep with relix and armstrong featuring other damfam guests.
adopting darkagemusic as their independent music label, also known as the damfam, thirdy3rd is putting the wraps on their full length, up tempo, trip hop adventure entitled cycleseven7. this cd will be filled with the sounds of hiphop, drum n bass, electronic influenced bpms as well as downtempo bangers. also featuring production from other well respected artists such as unklefesta (echelon). cypher optics (people like us). aware (dialectx). and shaw one & skeptic.

and armstrong also a remix album with reconstructed and new joints from relix.
