NEWS
I have just completed a new release of music. The new music is a collection of projects that I have done over the years. It features the entire System Blues 4-song demo, early recordings of some songs, taped band rehersals and some cover songs. I am also including a dvd with the release of this album. The dvd has a solo acoustic show, A System Blues live show and a performance of my song Golddigger (aka The Blues Song). The total price of the cd and dvd is $12.00. For more info just email me. Peace, Love and Thank You!

My name is Josh Ortiz and I am a singer/songwriter from Oxnard, Ca. I have been playing guitar for a few years; but I have been writing for as long as I can remember. I love to write songs, play guitar and sing in front of people and my ultimate dream is for someone to love me for it. If you love me once I will love you back one thousand times more...come on...show me the LOVE!
Why this name?
My band name was not hard to pick considering it's my name. All I did was just shorten the Joshua to Josh.....creative genius.(ha! hah! ha!)
Do you play live?
I love to play live because you are there with the people. There is no better feeling then when someone is loving you're music. The greatest experience I ever had was when I played live at Zoey Cafe in Ventura, Ca. All the people were nice and I had never meet so much gentle souls like that before in my life.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think the internet and mp3 have changed the music industry because it gives starving musicians such as myself a place to shine. It offers me the chance to be heard and loved by hundreds...hopefully millions of people.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I would sign a contract with a major record label only if they let me be who I am. If they try and control me or change my style then it's not for me. I want to be real and I won't sell my soul to anyone.
Band History:
Born in Oxnard, California; singer/songwriter Josh Ortiz radiates positivity and sings with a rawness in his voice and lyrics that come straight from the heart. He began writing songs at an early age; but he has only been playing guitar for a few years.
His musical journey began in 2002 when he formed a band called the "System Blues" While singing in the band he started to really appreciate his acoustic guitar more and more and began to play every now and again. Before recording his first solo ep, Ortiz would only perform for friends and family. Soon after that his band feel through some rough times and he found himself a solo artist. Sometimes good things come from bad things because soon after his band broke up he recorded "The Sotto Voce Ep". Through all of his experiences, Josh Ortiz is growing both as a musician and also as a person.

Your influences?
My musical influences are The Doors, Nirvana, John Lennon and Jeff Buckley. I think they are the greatest things to ever happen to music. If it was not for them then I would not be who I am today.
Favorite spot?
My favorite spot on earth is the beach at night on the sand, sitting and staring off into nothing. I have created many beautiful memories and have written many of my songs at the beach. It's even better when you are there with someone you love.
