Why this name?
The "J" in Jtrey is me, Jazzy LG, The "trey", which is spanish for 3, and incorporates 3 basic elements of my music: mind, body, and soul ,all blended into a jazzy smooth combination, which describes my style.
Do you play live?
Not yet,but soon.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It serves as a promotional tool.It can quickly be used to reach millions of fans instantly. It levels the playing ground for both known and unknowns.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Probaly not.I've been signed before, and didn't like the lack of choices on my musical direction.Right now I have total freedom to do as I please, musically.
Band History:
Bio

My name is Willie Larry Griggs, also known as Jazzy LG. I have enjoyed making
and playing music nearly my whole life. Originally from Detroit, Michigan, I grew up around the Motown sound. At the age of 12, I started toying with a Casio keyboard, listening to songs on the radio, and beginning to understand how to play by ear. I later expanded my art, when I was taught the alto clarinet in concert band, while in middle school. This was very important for my future growth, as I learned how to read sheet music, and the importance of various notations and arrangements. Throughout high school, I focused mainly on improving my writing and vocal skills, and was already well schooled in improvisational music (playing by ear). In 1984, I entered the U.S. Army, where I studied to be an X-ray Technologist; I interacted with musicians and artists from all over the country. While stationed at Fort Sam Houston, I participated in many talent shows and produced songs for numerous military and civilian talents. Notably, in 1987 I had the honor of being a part of one of the premier rap groups in San Antonio, called Born Fresh Posse. It consisted of me as producer/keyboardist/back-up vocals, A. Jackson, Timothy Brown (deceased), and DJ Veno. We performed commercial, clean rap, laced with smooth r&b choruses, at high schools, the june-teenth festival (1988) , and the same year ,won the right to open up for these legends of hip hop : KRS-ONE, ICE-TEE , DOUG E. FRESH , KOOL MOE DEE , BIZ MARKIE, AND ERIK B& RAKIM! After the concert, the group didn’t stay together too long. We each had our own individual responsibilities to attend to. My primary responsibility was to my family, and my long term career. I continued doing music while working in radiology, and was discovered by a local independent record label, Belt Drive records (1992). I was part of a group called SPLIT IMAGE, signed for 1 year and recorded 2 songs. This was a great learning experience. The best lesson was to love music for what it is, and you will never be disappointed. While with Belt Drive, I joined ASCAP( The American Society of Composers Authors and Publishers) , of which I am a writer member ,and have access to a multitude of information for young writers, producers and composers who are interested in become more knowledgeable in their endeavors. I have produced music for at least 100 artists. Produced jingles for adolf’s furniture in 1992.I have posted songs on the internet between 2000 and 2002 on various websites and have received accolades from other nations, as far away as Australia. The music I create is universally accepted
in its pure form ,and is unique in my approach to be different ,but simple.
So in the 25 years I have been involved in music, I have done just that, been involved with the music not just contracts or spotlights. I have developed my own signature style, and am content with sharing my gifts to the delight of others. My future plans are to be part of a strong team of other musicians, vocalists, composers, and entrepreneurs, and build a strong organization for the betterment of my art and society as a whole.

Your influences?
I am inspired by many great artists and producers such as Teddy Riley, Tyreese, R-Kelly,Dr. Dre, Stevie Wonder, OutKast, and Many others.I was moved by Tony Braxton's story, in her own words, and I also am very proud of Missy Elliot, Busta Ryhmes, and Eminem for keeping me motivated.
