Christine Phillips Hagar is primarily a songwriter, but loves to sing.
She never would sing at all until karaoke came along.
If someone were to hear her she would stop singing right away.
She sang as a teen but quit at age 10 or 11, and never sang in public again until 2004.
At that time though she tried to sing and would freeze up and could not.
She loves the story of Joan Baez.
Joan Baez had fear to the point of getting sick when she began singing in front of people.
In 2006 Christine got her second wind and came back after trying karaoke a few times, and now she sings in a lot of places that have karaoke today, as has a lot of fun doing it.
Her husband bought her a guitar somewhere around 2002 or so, and that is what got her into seriously trying to write songs.
She had only written and recited her poetry before this.
The guitar set her creative energies free to flow, and even though this is so,
Christine does not write songs everyday or every month, something has to have a profound effect on her thinking or emotions for her to write and then she cant help herself not to.

Do you play live?
I am new at this getting my own music out there thing. I write my own chords, melodys and lyrics and sometimes I have Mitch Snow of Mitch Snow Productions tweak the sound for me with his absolutely awesome talent, I will be bringing an instrumental soundtrack until I find some band members that wouldnt mind helping a someone who is just starting out and has a few jitters..My main intention is to be a very successful songwriter more than anything else musically.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
MP3 has changed the industry to really help folks who dont have millions of dollars to invest to get thier songs heard. Also if ones music was off the beaten path or maybe politically not popular it would not be heard either.
There are many great artists here on SoundClick, that I would not have ever heard in the mainstream media were it not for the internet and MP3.
These artists here on this site are what is great and we can choose for ourselves here what we think to be great, and thanks again to MP3 we get to hear it and buy it.

Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Maybe, I would think that I would, but the Internet is leveling the playing field so much and changing for the better for those of us who had no way of publishing before, who knows, the world could change where each songwriter and performer can manage thier own affairs and save alot of money in not falling for things they just dont need to get the job done.
Your influences?
I was very lucky to be a child that got to experience the 60s, 70s, and on.
We had songwriters in the 60s and 70s that wrote music to help change the world and that touched me, and made me want to write songs to promote peace and to promote a better place to grow spiritually into.
Kansas, The Moody Blues, Pink Floyd, and other groups with heavy symphonic sound really are my very favorite to listen to. My singing influences are Joan Baez, a little bit of Bob Dylans music, Cat Stevens, John Lennon, Bread, Grand Funk, Tanya Tucker, Janis Joplin and so many more that I cant think of them all right now.
I love all kinds of music from the softest little notes played on a piano, to a tornado sequence channeled out of a violin, to heavy metal. They all have been and an influence on me.

Favorite spot?
The Outer Banks of NC, the mountains of NC and TN are absolutely places I would like to call home.
I would also like to have a place in Nashville and one in Kansas.

Equipment used:
My guitar and a lot of paper.
Anything else...?
Everything that is the source, or God to me is my main equipment without that nothing with the guitar, voice or paper would turn out to be much.
