We want to hear from our fans. Reply to us by e-mail or snail mail and tell us which songs you want us to play in our set list for the coming months.
August was a great month for Sludge! We signed a 1 year contract with the management company CMT Productions out of Denton, MD. We are both looking forward to be working with one another.
We had our first bus trip ever in the 6 years that we’ve been together. The trip was to the Thunderdome Rock Club in Baltimore, MD on August 9th 2003 for the Metal Mindrage 2 Festival presented by our new management company and MarketyourMusic.com.
The trip was a success. We have more in store for the people that missed it or were there. We are already working on a really cool new idea for our next trip. It will be an adventure you don’t want to miss.
Two weeks later Sludge! played the very first reunion show for the Southern Jersey Thrash Metal band Faith or Fear. A reunion that took 13 years to happen with the original line-up at the Endless Summer Music Festival in Buena, NJ.
We also played the 3rd annual ‘Heavy Metal Stands Against Breast Cancer Benefit’ at the Pirate’s Den in Gloucester City, NJ on October 3rd 2003. With other bands The Hixon & Philadelphia’s Shadowdance. The show raised $1,300.00 for a well worthy cause.
All Proceeds went to the Koman Foundation in Philadelphia, PA.
Our next show is Friday, October 31st 2003 at Baron’s Steak House with long time friends Vicious Circle & Human. Make sure to check the show out.
Lots of new shirts, tank tops, embroidered flexfit hats & CD wallets, spaghetti strap baby doll shirts for the ladies in white or black with green print. Remember, you can get all merchandise at our shows or at the web site (www.sludgenj.com).
Last news for the letter, Blunt Troma Recordings from Frostburg, MD is releasing a 2 song seven inch vinyl record. There will be 100 green pressings, and 400 black pressings. The seven inch is due out tentatively February 2004. Look for listings.

Welcome to the New MP3 Page of Sludge!
Why this name?
We choose the name for the style of music we play.
Do you play live?
Yes, we do play live very offen and we enjoy it very much.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think by having mp3's, people have more of a choice in the music they listen to without buying CD's they will never listen to again.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Sure, why not.
Band History:
In March of 1997, Sludge! was formed by a unique group of guys fed up with what was going on the in the music industry. Sludge! has accomplished what many bands haven’t done in ten years of existence by releasing four different forms of musical disaster.
With the release of 1997’s ‘New Jersey Hate Core’ demo, Sludge! managed to create a swelling buzz around the band. They sold / traded nearly 4,000 demos in a very short period of time and were bolstered by frequent and well-attended live performances.
In 1998, they released their second demo entitled ‘Alone & Twisted.’ This release unleashed a torrent of national and international underground music supporters from hard music radio airplay, interviews, distribution and reviews in the underground extreme music press.
Sludge! wanted to prove their dedication to the underground music scene by releasing the ‘Throatwrench’ 7 inch EP featuring two new tracks of heavy, unique metallic doomy hardcore to the masses. This extremely limited edition (300), hand numbered, colored (clear green) vinyl release solidified the band’s reputation amongst vinyl collectors. The 7 inch sold out in nearly two weeks, with 95% of the release going straight to the European market.
This EP helped land a releasing deal with a small label called Twist of Faith Records, the now defunked label at the end of 1999. ‘Behavior Modification Theory,’ the band’s first full length CD was released to much fanfare. To celebrate, Sludge! went on a series of mini-road tours to promote the disc an meet with fans across the east coast and Midwest.
Now Sludge! moves forward to 2002 to announce the release of ‘As A Man Thinketh.’ The new self released, ten track CD demonstrates what five years of musical evolution does for a band, musically and lyrically. Sludge! defines the era with their own brand of stomp-metal. An offbeat and time changing sound divides Sludge! from the rest of the new metal-core bands that have been emerging in the last couple of years.
Singer, songwriter Dan Snyder steps in to play a second guitar spot on five of the ten track CD. Making the efforts sound even more greater than the last. With help from studio genius, Bill Berends (Mastermind), at Lakeside Studios in Brown Mills, NJ.
Sludge! created what we think is their ultimate masterpiece of their time. Sludge! strives for excellence in 2003 and plans to promote the new CD to the fullest and punish all the nonbelievers that stand in their way. Look your way for Sludge! to take over what they call their musical evolution.
-NOTE: Look for new Sludge! CD sometime in 2004.
