Why this name?
I like to DJ and it's pretty much completely original to use your last name.....
Do you play live?
Yes - but not this music. I play live with jazz combos, playing sax, drums and piano. I do some rock stuff and musicals as well.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Makes it easier to share music and ideas - also easier for consumers to find the music they want, and Soundclick does a good job at letting the listener actually listen before they decide whether to buy or not.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Most likely - depends on the terms, if I have to stick with only one genre of music then no.
Band History:
I've played piano since I was 5-6, started alto sax in 6th grade, then tenor sax and drums in 8th grade. End of my sophmore year in high school I started playing the soprano sax, and I've been doing original music on my computer for a little over a year now with Fruity Loops. I've also just picked up the guitar and bass, and I have played the bassoon, but not often. Before that I used some of the eJay products, but I don't share that since I feel people should enjoy what I originally produce and put hard work into - I don't consider picking pre-made loops and combining them with other loops hard work.
Your influences?
Anyone who's good - jazz musicians like Herbie Hancock, Louis Armstrong, Charlie Parker, Joshua Redman, Sonny Rollins, Max Roach, Gordon Goodwin, John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Wynton Marsallis, Jeff Goodrich, Buddy Rich, rock artists like Jason Beckner, Yngwie Malmsteen, Spastic Ink, techno artists like Darude, DJ Sammy, Eiffel 65, ATB, ATC, classical/symphonic artists like Bach, Bethoveen, Telemann, Sheauman, Trevor Jones, Randy Edelman, John Williams, Danny Elfman, Klaus Badelt, Hans Zimmer.
Favorite spot?
Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii
Equipment used:
Fruity Loops Studio Edition V.8.1, Acid Pro 6.0, Adobe Audition and Pro Tools along with a bunch of VST/VSTi/DX plugins and samples. No loops, everythings original! Sometimes Garage Band, Kristal and Audacity, Cool Edit Pro, Recycle.
Anything else...?
