Highlights from the interview for the International Online Music magazine

Without a doubt, Bulgarian artist Dimiter Dimitrov aka Chipson, has proved his artistic worth over and over again in his musical persuasions and compositions and also in his championing of Bulgarian artists and authors. Chipson is a multi-genre artist with his occasional musical excursions into New Age, Classical, Electronic Rock, and World Ethnic Music receiving regular attention and critical acclaim albeit within the realm of the international online community. On a personal level, Chipson will openly admit that he puts every ounce of emotion into his music, and every ounce of his 'compassion energy' into promoting the cause of Bulgarian artists and authors, his only frustrations it seems, are those most associated with politically 'closed' opportunities for artists in Bulgaria and that's something he is trying very hard to resolve. On a happier note, Chipson continues to produce superb music and that's really all the excuse we need to invite him in to answer the inevitable questions...

Unlike most people, who started their musical career with learning and practical training, I “woke up” for the music at a very early age in my parent's home and the evening parties they had. My father had been a musician once and that's why, I think, I have a good ear for music and I started to try reproducing it on my first PC. Well, my father's guitar also suffered the consequences of my first steps getting into the branch of the music. Few years later I realized that not the instrument, but the composing would be my special line.

My first compositions were influenced by the music I liked and listened to – Hard Rock, Heavy Metal and Alternative. Shortly after I had a conversation with a friend of mine, who is a writer, in particular with poetry, and we decided to try making a project together. First he wrote the lyrics and then I made the music for it. Well, the only recordings we have made were on my PC and we never published that project, but I dare say it worked! At least for us to feel inspired and take up with the next project. On these lines we finished two album-projects with total of 22 songs in Melodic and Electronic Rock genres and about 10 other songs, inspired by particular reasons. We called ourselves “Wild and Tame” :)
At the same time I did not stop extending my visions about writing music. Little by little through the years I have also increased my technical equipment. Unfortunately, in the beginning of March 1999 my equipment was stolen in a robbery at my place and that has almost put an end to my musical aspirations. It took me two years to get over and start collecting new equipment, but this break also changed my visions and set me on the challenge of new projects, new genres. The only thing that hasn't change is my love to the art and the passion for making music!
