Standing up for what we believe in.
Why this name?
One of our favorite places to hang out is the lake. We have a friend named Vega who has a trailer near the water, and we go to drink beer and get sunburned. We saw the word Wake on an "Idle Speed No Wake" buoy and thought it worked.
Do you play live?
It is our focus, and it is what we love to do. We place a major emphasis on putting together a show that fans won’t forget. We have a dedicated lighting and sound crew that works hard with us to make it all happen. The Wake Crew rolls in, gets it done right, and rolls out as quickly as we came.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
We get a chance to do things on our own. We don't HAVE to have a promoter or an agent pushing our music...we can do it at home.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yeah. We have a price of course. But, some deals may leave us worse off than we are. We won't sign our first offer...We will wait for the right company and the right deal.
Band History:
We've played together forever. We have been through a lot already as both best friends and musicians. We used to write bad music and loved it. We played for 6 years in a basement before anyone outside of our close friends and family saw us. For over two years now since we got our first show we have lived a dream. We are always trying to make the dream last longer, but we'd still wake up happy if it ended now.
Your influences?
People compare us to other bands all the time. Most of the time it makes us cringe. I think it must be everyone's natural reaction to music...what does it sound like? We do it too. But, to enhance understanding of our approach, we'll tell you what's in our cd players now...Refused, Snapcase, Dillinger Escape Plan, Not Waving But Drowning, Blackstar, J5, DJ Shadow, and our favorite local and regional acts from hip-hop to metal.
Favorite spot?
The stage.
Equipment used:
We used to use Zoom Rhythm trak 234's, but we now have an Akai MPC 2000XL. Consider yourself warned.
Anything else...?
We want to thank our fans and the people in our lives who continue to support our dream. Our friends and family are essential to our existence. We will continue to work to the bone to make this happen.
