A. Molotkov is a writer, composer, filmmaker and visual artist, and co-founder of the Inflectionist poetry movement. Born in St. Petersburg, he arrived in the U.S. in 1990 and switched to writing in English in 1993. He is the author of several novels, short story and poetry collections and the winner of the 2011 Boone’s Dock Press poetry chapbook contest for his “True Stories from the Future”. His first CD, "Can You Stay Forever?" (2005) was well-received by the critics. His second CD is completed as of October 2011 - distribution options are being investigated.
Why this name?
It happens to be my real name.
Do you play live?
I perform live often in Portland, OR, with poetry readings and poetry and music programs. Please friend me on Facebook (www.facebook.com/a.molotkov) to keep in touch.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It enables an artist to access a wider audience without going through official channels like record labels.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Unlikely.
Band History:
I have been a writer of fiction since 1984. In 1994 S.B. Reda and I began work on a series of video films, resulting in “Look at My Screen”, a 2-hour video compilation. After forming Discord Aggregate in 1996, together with S.B. Reda and Pamela Zero, I began my invasion into music, visual art, and web art. Since Discord Aggregate went dormant earlier this century, I have created two solo CDs, samples from which are available here.

The CD is based on my illustrated book "Not From Around Now (Poetry for a Small Choir)" (http://www.discord-aggregate.com/literature/amolotkov/notfrom.htm). This ambitious project involves 17 musicians.
