Cosa Nostra was formed in the summer of 2003 in Los Angeles, CA by Hank "Combat" Bronson and Jimmy" Iron Jae" Jump. Like most artist they began their evolution in the Hip-Hop culture as street break-dancers and later as graffiti artist. This taught them the basics of guerilla marketing which landed them a stint on Master P's street team in the late-nineties. Their hard work paid off with the success of P's first major release but that wasn't enough for them. They later interned at an indie label which allowed them to learn the in's and out's of the game. This was what led to the forming of "THEIR OWN THING."

Cosa Nostra has incorporated this same work ethic and respect to their business sense. Get down or lay down is the company motto. Their music along with their street knowledge adds a new meaning to organized rhyme. Following in the steps of many Latinos that came before like Big Pun, Fat Joe, and Cypress Hill; Cosa Nostra is the new legacy of hip hop from the West Coast. Hailing from the gang capital of the world, this is not your typical g-funk, low riding music that you are accustomed to hearing from Los Angeles. Cosa Nostra comes with a sound that will put the City of Angels back on the Hip Hop radar like none other before.

Why this name?
COSA NOSTRA means "This thing of ours." And this is a family business. We are sworn by a strict ethical code called omerta. We are taking this thing that we put together to take care of our people, make sure everyone eats. Those are the only parallels. We are not out to glorify violence or anything like that. We just legitimized the street hustle.
Do you play live?
We play live whenever we can. We have been booked for some underground hip hop clubs. We also have some shows coming up where we are opening up for some big names. Check out our calendar at www.myspace.com/cosanostramusic. For booking holler at me @323.997.2467
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Feel free to bootleg our music!!! Make copies for you friends. MP3 is a good thing for unsigned/indie artist. It has made local talent more accessable. Where as before, groups would have to spend alot of money to be able to visit other cities to promote there music. It also has allowed word-of-mouth to spread beyond the city limits.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Right now we are looking for regional distribution... that's our main focus right now. We welcome any type of endorsements, sponsorships, and cross-promotion. Regardless how big or small. Right now we are straight independant. So we work with local and not so local DJ's as well.
Band History:
We are blood related family, so our history dates back to our birth.... We've been rhyming in ciphers for a minute. Then we just got to the point where it was time to put something down in the studio. The rest is history!
Your influences?
CHARLIE CHASE of THE COLD CRUSH BROTHERS, PUERTO ROCK, JDL-THE RADIO MAN, ROC STEADY CREW, TITO of THE FEARLESS FOUR, TONY TOUCH, CYPRESS HILL, MELLOW MAN ACE, HURRICAINE G, AZ, BIG PUN, FAT JOE, TRIPLE SEIS, CUBAN LINK, TERROR SQUAD, COOL AND DRE, PLAY N SKILLZ, PIT BULL, SPM, CHINGO BLING, BABY BASH, GEMINI, KAST & MAX PAYNE, SUCIO, CODE BLUE, COCA INA, FULL THROTTLE and all the spanish niggas that didn't make it.
