PURE is the coming together of two musical friends. Terence Thomas and Eric Lewis, two men with ties to Compton but with a vision to express more than what the media displays. With the thought of being more positive and even going against the grain of the industry as far as what they want to promote out of the urban areas, we put together this project. The first of many more CD's to come.
Why this name?
PURE is an acronym for Positive Urban Renewal Experience. We just wanted to present something else other than the thug/pimp life so associated with ghettoes and black music.
Do you play live?
PURE is currently looking at several offers to perform live and as soon as we book the dates, we will let all of you know. We welcome promoters from around the country and worldwide to get in touch with us for the opportunity to bring our unique sound to your area.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It's advertising on a worldwode scale that we couldn't afford to do otherwise. We have fans from around the globe without having to go everywhere. The net makes that a reality now.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Sure, if the right deal comes along. No one needs to rely on labels as a start anymore, the net is still wide open. But just because we do this type of music, don't think you can punk us on the business end. You know where we from, right? Don't try to play us.
Band History:
Our history is what it is. No need to go down that path too much. We are looking at making a new history for ourselves, something positive. So if you looking for a sob story about two brothas fighting our way up from the ghetto to make it......fill in your own blanks. Where we came from is not as important as where we are going!
Your influences?
Our musical influences cover a lot of ground, from the old school R&B jams to old school Fusion to Grover to Benson to Klugh to Chet to Marcus Miller etc., ad infinitum.... and the new cats out there doing it. We listen to it all and just do our thing with it.
Favorite spot?
Monte Carlo (Don't laugh, we've been there) Oh, and Brazil, Rio to be exact. (What? We can't get around a little bit, you think we just sitting around twiddling our thumbs?)

Uhm....whatever we could get our hands on... but you didn't hear that from me.
