Hi, and welcome to my music page. Click 'Music' on the right if you wanna hear my stuff or keep reading if you're interested in my fascinating history!

My name's Joost Boonekamp and I'm from the Netherlands. Back in the old tracker days I used to be a member of Total Eclipse and Ravers of Unity under the name Xentar. Currently I'm a member of Reunion (www.reunionstudio.org).

After the scene more or less died I decided to create my own page on MP3.com . I had to choose a different name because Xentar was already taken so I just randomly picked Contraption. I don't think it's very good name, but I am kinda 'known' as that now so I'll have to live with it. :p
My most popular track there was 'Miracle', which one day received over 1000 downloads for reasons which still elude me. It's available here of course, I consider it one of my better trance tracks.

I'd qualify my music as happy. The genres I most often produce are Trance and Happy Hardcore (since soundclick doesn't have a Happy Hardcore genre I put those in Techno Hardcore), but occasionally I create other stuff, like drum&bass or slow breakbeat tracks.

Two of my tracks got released on the label RFU recordings: 'Choices' as 'Dreaming of another way' and 'Forever 2001' as 'Higher, Forever' (best known by the remix by Breeze & Styles). 'Higher Forever' was even featured on some compilations.
Mostly I just make music for fun though; I don't exactly have illusions of becoming world famous with this stuff :p Still there are some people who like it which is another good reason to continue producing, so don't hesitate to write something on the message boards if you like it (or even if you don't)!

In the old days I used the popular tracking program Impulse Tracker. These trackers were limited in effects but allowed a lot of creativity. Somewhere around 2000-2001 I switched to Reason and haven't looked back since. These days I use Reason 3.0. Technically my tracks could probably be better (mixing ain't exactly my strong suit), but I don't like to go back to tracks I consider 'finished', so you'll have to live with it! I think my tracks are starting to sound better recently but maybe that's just me.

In september 2006 my alter ego Xenter returned when I joined Reunion, and I will continue to release music both there and on this page.

Anyways, I guess that's about it. If you've read all that you must be crazy!
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Of course, earning a living by making music is still a dream (albeit an unrealistic one)!
Your influences?
It's hard to give direct influences for all of my music. But certain of my tracks were heavily influenced by others.
