A guy in Olympia.
Tribal trap freak.
(A Burning Man project)
Why this name?
I used to really be into Japanese literature/culture. The Noh plays and the 3 Wise Monkeys story from Asia inspired the name.
Do you play live?
Mostly Burning Man - Black Rock City and Olympia, WA.....but some Seattle gigs....maybe Portland, soon.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It has the flexibility of cutting out the "middle man". This can be a good thing.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Depends. I'd have my music industry lawyer look at it first.
Band History:
I've been playing throughout the Northwest area for over 25 years. A member of lots of bands....Linear Descent (radio-play in the 80's), Misspent Youth, Shiver (radio-play in the 90's, Vatican II, Planet Percussion, and now K.O.I (radio-play in the 00's).
Your influences?
David Sylvian and Ryuichi Sakamoto are a major influence. And a fair amount of Phillip Glass/Laurie Anderson influence with some Beatles and Harry Partch thrown in. Salif Keita, XTC and Oingo Boingo/Elfman. Some Dreampop, acid-jazz and Dead Can Dance sifts through the filter.
Favorite spot?
Tokyo, Japan has to be one of them.
But Black Rock City, Seattle and San Fran are most frequented fave cities.
Equipment used:
Roland SPD-S sampling pad/EMU Planet Earth sound module/variety of Roland and Korg keys/VDrums/ Sonar 4/Project5 with an M-Audio OZone controller. An array of acoustic percussive devices - Ayotte trap set, Dumbek, tabla, kalimba, Slingerland cocktail kit, Hang (http://www.oddmusic.com/gallery/om16250.html), etc....that I sometimes trigger for dual effect. Oh yeah.... A drum bike too...the RTS-1...my own design and wired for sound.
Anything else...?
Well I guess I'll plug the RTS-1 (The Rhythmic Transformation Station) here:

I now have the RTS-2 (just back from Burning Man) and will put up photos soon
