I met Bobby...at an audition...he was the guitarist filling in...they wanted me to sing some 80's Pat Benatar(Promises in the Dark).....I sang it , he played it....As Bobby once said...the rest is magic,..... History.................he was playin with another band and was getting tired of the 80's mold for songwriting...so I threw some blues and jazz his way, and he responded ....the chemistry we had when writing was the magic...We just finished each other's musical sentences..nothing was ever really discussed.....We were a duet....and then when we decided to lay some stuff down in the studio, we called Bob Catalano(Voyager,Moving Pictures)...at his studio in Seabrook NH(he was an old bandmate of Bobby's and they recorded well together, he did the Bass tracks for us, and some keys....Jeff Bishop(Moving Pictures, Destroyer)Laid down Drum Tracks in the beginning .......Bobby played all guitars,,,,,,I played piano, some keys, and sang lead and all backups......The Mary Carmel Project came to an abrupt stop in 2006, for Bobby was sick and passed on............someday I would love to finish the other songs we had lined up.....some drum tracks are there and a few scratches of acoustic from Bobby...................
Thank you to all who contributed, we had alot of laughs (and some fighting), ...but I will consider all of you family forever..................especially Mike Hughes ..he held that audition for a singer...Thanks Mikey
Love Always, Mary Carmel................Golden Slumbers Bobby.... Kitten XO

Why this name?
People Liked Carmel...for they got it confused with caramel when spoken quickly...which sounds sweet....good for a a girl's name.....but Carmel was my Confimation name..I took my Italian grandmother's name...either way my middle initial is C.... for Catherine, my maternal grandmother...
Do you play live?
We did a couple unplugged at the fundraiser for the Group recording..every moment was special...with Bobby!!!!! you just had to know him....one of the greatest natural talents in the world...and modest about it...he NEVER really knew the depth of what he brought to the table.....and my God he was funny...to say the least..we goofed alot together.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I don;t like MP3 when it comes to sound...it compresses things....but it made the world of recording alot easier!!!!! The industry got destroyed, when it came to full cds...verything is on I tunes now...you don't need the full cd....just record and sell what you have.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Of Course!
Band History:
Not much...we layered everything ourselves with the help of Bob and his Pro tools.......
Your influences?
For me it was Beatles, Stones, Johnny Cash(my brother Louie and my Uncles were into it)....I sang in Choirs all my life....my Mom took me to musicals...Dad was into Jazz and Opera..which is why I went to Berklee to study, I was a self taught pianist for a long time, til dad brought me into Boston to study....Then 80's...Pat Benatar...Pretenders, Bobby was influenced by alot of the 80's guys, the classic superbands, and anything new that came along..he had his own sound though.(He loved Barbra Streisand)...go figure!!!
We both did!!!!!and Cher..he loved Madonna and the Dance acts.

Favorite spot?
Northern NH Coastline.... Cape Cod.Boston, NY, Vegas(we were interviewed there ....one night on the radio...or should I say I was...Bobby was horrified the next Morning when he realized he mixed his days up again!!!)......Radio Stuff, they likedour stuff very much
Equipment used:
Whatever sound we needed...Bob Catalano had us equipped at the studio(Bob Cat recording Studio..NH)...Bobby played his Ibanez usually....I remember him playing through the Marshall..in Ammunition, playing his Takamine 12 string oneverything else he did near the end.(believe it or not...that is where he found the riff for Ammunition..we were playing Acoustic.LOL)......and a Martin 6 string
I have no idea what mic I used til this day..I just remember Bob running in and changing my mic during a session..he said..I sounded much better when I worked harder, and my piano on" You've Dressed me up in Black" was the Yamaha P80 that I had from home.I wanted to retake the piano track..I had not thought it out...but never got around to it. I had hen scratches and chord changes on a piece of steno paper..the day I did piano....oops!
