from Yorktown, VA... Sequoia is a band who puts forth amazing energy, passion, and intensity in their music (a tight blend of metal, punk rock, + hints of alternative)
Why this name?
Sequoia.. its a simple name, but much like the tree.. it remains to stand strong against anything.
Do you play live?
our live shows have been described as very intense... we've played around alot in Williamsburg, Yorktown (our home), Virginia Beach, + Chesapeake... we're looking to expand this soon.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
it gives band the chance to get their music out around anywhere, and thats a huge step in music.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
absolutely, there is no such thing as selling out, as long as you'd still be playing the music that you love... whether its just at a party in front of some friends or at a showcase show.
Band History:
Brought together from the ashes of hardcore outfit Clockin' Neemin and a few others, Sequoia got together around late spring of 2003, but have been playing collectively with each other since about 1999. MG (vocals), Seth (bass), and Brent (drums) all played in Clockin' Neemin.. and after their breakup, decided to start something new with MG on vocals (originally on bass), and so they contacted some of MG's friends Jason + Branden (guitarists) due to their amazing abilities... and it's been like this ever since.
Your influences?
We we're influenced by many bands such as Into Another, Iron Maiden, New Found Glory, Suicide Machines, Wallstreet (a greatly admired former local band), Alkaline Trio, The Cure, Outkast, + an extensive list of many artists. Sequoia has been compared to the likes of A Static Lullaby, Rise Against, New Found Glory, AFI, From Autumn to Ashes, Avenged Sevenfold, etc.
Favorite spot?
nothing like Yorktown, VA.
Equipment used:
all of our own stuff... :)
Anything else...?
"You're One of Us Now", the full-length from Sequoia... release is TBA (most likely late December or early 2004).
