play lo-fi play hi-fi  Decent - “God's Way”

On March 11th, 1983, Daniel Stewart was born to Ronald and Cynthia Stewart and raised in the Bedford-Stuyvesant part of Brooklyn. Daniel Stewart, the youngest of three brothers knew he had a gift to sing. Both of his brothers, Ronald and Michael also have talents in music, and ever since they were little kids, all of them knew that they wanted to be in the music business. He studied music under his Uncle Butch at a very young age and over the years, Decent has evolved into a talented singer/songwriter/producer.

The name “Decent” is a combination of his first name and his mother's nickname, "Cent." Young Decent, as he likes to be called, is no stranger to performing and sometimes with his edgy look and creative style, people tend to think he is a rap artist. But he is an Inspirational/Gospel Singer with a bit of Hip-Hop influence. Decent has performed all over New York and has gained supportive fans everywhere he goes, and receives lots of love every time he picks up the MIC. So far he has already performed at places like BMI, New York University, Walker Stage, The Cutting Room, Club Downtown and he has also had several television appearances and radio interviews. Decent is a musician at his very own Church, Onward Ministries. His voice is smooth and silky and he writes all of his own songs.

Decent has proven that he is a force to be reckoned with on his first single, "God's Way." He sings about his life and how it took him to hit rock bottom before he realized that it can only be God's way. He attends Mercy College in New York City for Music Engineering and Technology. This young talented brother is focused and determined. He knows where he wants to go in life and no one will stop him, he is gifted and very much “inspired,” and he'll continue to bring you the best in the future. Look out for him.

Why this name?

How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The Internet is already taking over the music industry slowly but surely. In about a year, indies and independent labels will have blown up to the point where unsigned artists wont need majoes. It has been so helpful through out the years. More and more artists are now picking up on the Underground Scene and are doing good independently. It takes away from all the stress and drama you get with the majors. So MP3 on the Internet is becoming an advantage. It's working.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Maybe, that's not guaranteed. If Decent signs a label deal, it would have to be worth a lot. And not just any label.
