Baboon Rising is just crazy Metal music with outlandish lyrics. Style ranges from straight ahead metal to speed and death metal.
Why this name?
My friend Thomas and I were trying to think of a name for our new band (in 1987), and he started making wierd noises that sounded like a baboon. I said that we should call the band name Baboon, based on his noises. In 1995, after finding out the name was taken by a more famous group, the name changed to Baboon Rising.
Do you play live?
Baboon Rising is a one man band and does not play live.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The Internet provides a great resource for independant artists and places like SoundClick make it possible to share music worldwide.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes
Band History:
Baboon Rising rose as Baboon in 1987. In 1995 after several albums they changed their name to Baboon Rising. For most of it's existance it has had two members. One of the founding members, Thomas Miller moved leaving Mark Rathke to record the rest of the existing 10 albums in the bands discography. Thom has since recorded as a guest musician on albums since his departure.
