Da fuc iz up. Everyone, this is me, DJ Greyor. I haven't recorded in awhile but I'm going to make some new sh*** ASAP. Hope you all like what you hear so far. Why this name?
Well, Greyor I picked as a nickname because I found it in this old computer RPG I played, and I really liked it... so I started using it. DJ I tagged on cos I DJ and MC as well.
Do you play live?
Not really... I haven't yet at least. I did spin out a mix once in my basement for my friend though, which turned out really phat (Double Homicide In The Ghetto).
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think it's for the best. Personally, I download MP3s and usually buy the album after I get it... unless it's a bootleg or something I can't get... and so yeah... I think it's a great way to hear music before it comes out and decide if it's worth buying or not.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Of course I would, if anyone wanted me.
Band History:
Basically... I grew up in Eugene, Oregon, and I still live here, going to U of Oregon, and I just started DJing a couple years ago (Jan 2000) and really fell into it. I started MCing not too long ago either and I've written close to 350 rhymes so far... and done a couple hiphop songs. But yeah... I just kinda fell into this sh*** if you ask me.
Your influences?
Well, I'm heavily influenced by all the hiphop I listen to. A lot of my lyrics are influenced by Eminem, Necro, just about anything I listen to -- my sh*** is pretty hardcore. I rhyme about anything and everything pretty much... and I don't care if it's offensive or not. With my DJing I like sh*** that sounds fresh... DJ Shadow is one of my favourites... He actually inspired me to become a DJ, so I gotta give him props. Basically though, any phat hiphop I listen to inspires me... Souls of Mischief, Hieroglyphics, Del, all that sorta shit... Equipment used:
I use Gemini XL-500II tables with Stanton SK-505 cartridges... and a Vestax PMC03 (I believe it's PMC03, I forget the number) mixer, brand new. I started out on a Gemini PMX60 mixer (which sucked) but I moved up. Eventually I want to get some Technics 1200s if possible.
