Sleep Distance is my ambient/electronic music project. I am a guitarist, and I like incorporating synths and ambient guitar sounds in my music. I also very much enjoy Michael Manring's fretless bass pieces, and so I play some fretless bass in a few of my compositions. Some of my pieces are a little more composed, others are largely improvised.
Why this name?
It's no dumber a name than Cold Play.
Do you play live?
Sleep Distance is a recording project only right now.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
You get to listen to my music without me having to get a major record deal.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I'd consider it.
Your influences?
Steve Roach, Pink Floyd, Michael Manring, Mark Egan, Henry Frayne/Lanterna, Brian Eno, David Torn, Micheal Brook, Robin Guthrie/Cocteau Twins, Phil Keaggy, Neil Nappe, and more.
Favorite spot?
The Canterbury School in New Milford CT. I attended the National Guitar Workshop there a few summers in the 90's. In summer it's just lovely countryside, and the atmosphere of creativity, surrounded by a few hundred talented musicians, is extremely inspiring.
Equipment used:
