Opposed1 is the solo project of Oregon based multi-instrumental Matt Jameson.

My debut album, "A New Direction" consists of nine original songs, each meant to simultaneously showcase my work as a guitarist, pianist, percussionist, composer and vocalist. I try to create a vintage sound reminiscent of late 60?s that somehow manages to also come through sounding fresh and modern. My goal is to make music addictive enough to be considered a controlled substance.

I wanted to do a primarily piano-driven alternative album because I feel that piano is often missing in most modern music today.

I want you to fall in love with the piano again.
Why this name?
I played in a three piece band called All Those Opposed with some close friends, so it seemed like a natural progression from All Those to One. Not to mention that I opposed the traditional definition of what artists must do to achieve musical success. I just want to make some bonus money doing what I love, but by earning the fans personally. Im trying to build an organic fan base of people who truly love my music.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The new music industry standard is a model I have been waiting to see for quite some time. This gives people with real talent, but limited means a chance to get their sound heard and embraced. Its opening up a whole new world of music that we all might never have had the fortune to hear. I personally HOPE EVERYONE pirates my music and sends it around the globe. I can always make some scratch on a few t-shirt sales. I one day my music reaches some kid in India, and he vibes with it - that is payment enough...
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
It is possible. Im not ruling it out, although the label would have to be flexible enough to allow me to do what I do best, without steering it to far away from the sound I love to produce. Im very agreeable, but I don't waiver on my resolve to keep creating work in my own way with my own sound.
Band History:
The album title "A New Direction" speaks to the changes that myself and my music have gone through, the biggest of which was making the switch from being a songwriter to a singer-songwriter. I can always remember hearing my own musical compositions in my head, even as a very young child. My parents instilled in me a strong love for music, and this translated into a great cure for childhood boredom.

Although I learned a lot of instruments growing up, my true loves are the guitar and piano. I began performing classical pieces in piano halls for audiences by the age of 10. By my teen years I had fallen hard for my electric guitar, but never lost my love for piano.
Your influences?
This is where I could randomly name all kinds of popular acts, but here are some you may not have had the chance to hear that really influence me a lot: Abandoned Pools, Porcupine Tree, Fresh Body Shop, Another Cynthia, Criteria, Spoon, Pinback, Massive Attack and the list goes on and on...
Favorite spot?
Seatlle is a fav, but I've always had a soft spot for San Fran, it simply offers the best skateboarding on the west coast, and the bums if properly tipped hold a wealth of information on where to find the local only skate spots.
Equipment used:
Yamaha QY-700, Schecter Guitars, Sure Mics, Alesis Boards, Line 6 Guitar Effects, M-Audio Controllers and Cakewalk Sonar for tracking and mastering.
Anything else...?
If you're still reading that means you're interested. You are the person I am trying to reach. Please take a moment of your time to share my music with your friends. I sincerely thank you for your time and for your listens. I make this music in the hopes that it will inspire you to support other indie music. Cheers! Visit me online at www.myspace.com/opposed1
