Nick Davies: English man AWOL in Asia since 1992, is the man behind Stretchout Music.
Over a decade here in Thailand has probably made it impossible to ever return to the land of tea and cucumber sandwiches.
Thailand is a land of extremes; You can live life in the 'very' fast lane or you can seek spiritual enlightenment or, you can do a bit of both, Which is what Stretchout Music is all about.
I feel lucky to have experienced and seen things that have made me look hard at life and what I can do to leave the world a better place than when I found it. The world would definately not be a better place if I sang. I see and hear things around me and they turn to music in my head, then my computer and I make love and we produce musical offspring that grow up to find their own little genres of music to join. Sometimes it's ambient, sometimes it's psychedelic trip hop.

"Nick's music is powerfully thought provoking and highly original, Based in his tropical home in Thailand, where Buddhism, nature and a vibrant way of life has influenced an artist of the decade."

"This is quality music from a quality mind."
Why this name?
My nic name is Stretch, also, my music is not just one style. You can stretch out to it whether you want to throw your limbs all over the place with some of the psychedelic electronic stuff or stretchout and chill out with the headphones playing some of the ambient stuff
Do you play live?
Not at the mo. Busy with soundtracks and other projects right now. myself and a few other musicians that make up Stretchout Music are currently planning something special with accompanying video imagary. Gonna be big!
Lots of special moments
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
How would space travel change if everybody had a rocket?
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
An independent artist can get good results all by themselves and they can be who they want to be. If you are professional enough about the way you go about promoting your own music; targeting the right audiences, finding out where to get your own CDs and labels printed etc. work put in does get results. having a product like 'great music on a CD' is a fraction of the work involved, the rest is getting people to listen to your stuff. All this said, Non exclusive contracts are fine by me but if you want to rule my life and my music, up yours!
Band History:
My love of nature and a musical up bringing.
Your influences?
Bands with a message who are not trying to be any particular style. Well known bands I have tripped out on are...Pink Floyd, Cafe del mare, Vangelis, Jean Micheal Jarre,uf-orb, Mike oldfield, Enya, Massive attack, Enigma, Penguin Cafe Orchestra.
Favorite spot?
Sitting and listening the the world around me then Sitting in a studio pouring out the music that has accumulated in my head.
Equipment used:
Fruity loops Reason, collected samples, recordings in Mp3
Sound Forge, and a bunch of other useful programs on a PC.
Anything else...?
I want humanity to come to the realization that we have a responsibility to be at peace with the world, mother nature, each other and most importantly ourselves. Then perhaps we could exist in a way that is not self destructive and at a higher level of spirituality and accountability for our actions, thoughts and deeds. If Stretchout Music can make people stop and think about what is good in life and what should be held on to or discarded; both physically and emotionally, then I have done my job.
Listen, chill and love.
