Sinde Kise
NEWS   Sinde Kise, during a gig at CBGB's in Sept. 1998, kidnapped Allied Swirl's lead guitarist. After 6 months of brainwashing and captivity in the back room of Tin Pan Alley rehearsal studios on East 28th Street in NYC, Alicia has taken very well to her captors and is now performing with the band. She's playing lead bass because Sinde Kise really needed a bassist. Come see a live show and experience how Jimmi Hendrix or Stevie Ray Vaughn may have played a bass guitar.

Three girls, three instruments, three hundred thrashy pop songs, and a glamorous stage show.
Why this name?
We started out on the NYC club scene as "The Bathroom Guys." But, we kept getting mistaken for "The Toilet Boys." Ask someone in South Jersey about Kise. It is like the legend of "The Jersey Devil." In hindsight, we should've kept the name "The Bathroom Guys" since Blondie may have mistakenly booked us on her last tour thinking we were those toilet guys.
Do you play live?
Playing live is what it is about. We mostly play in NYC and Hoboken (venues including Arlene Grocery, Sidewalk Cafe, Orange Bear, Lovesexy, Spiral, CBGB's, Liquid Lounge, etc. --- we prefer the East Village since it is easier to park) but have also played in Toronto, eastern Long Island, and Brooklyn (after our performance at The Rising Cafe, the owners vowed to only have accoustic acts in the future). We plan to add shows in the Jersey suburbs and Philly this year. The Sinde Kise Dancers joined us at Lovesexy and Sidewalk Cafe during our last few gigs. We don't know who they are, as they won't put down their real names on our mailing list, but, their choreography adds excitement to our show. We love to gig with THE SWIMMIES, THE ERICS, and THE CATHOLIC GIRLS. We try to book shows with them, whenever we can all get our schedules together.
If you make it big..?
Buy our moms' big condos in Florida, pay off our debts, and spend our time writing songs, recording, gigging, and being philanthropists.
Band History:
Taking their cue from such bands as THE BREEDERS, BLONDIE, and PAVEMENT, the members of Sinde Kise travel New York City's club scene playing their own brand of thrashy pop. Leaving the serious issues to P.J. Harvey, Sinde Kise play original songs exploring the mundane such as inflation ("Mr. Softee"), claustrophobia ("Locked in a Room"), and everyday unpleasantries ("Hi"). Besides the requisite lead and rhythm guitar, bass, and drums, guest appearances of trumpet, organ, flute, and moog make their way into song lines and live sets. Veterans of NYC clubland, having played such venues as CBGBs, Arlene Grocery, Acme Underground, and Sidewalk, Sinde Kise play dyanmic live sets and continue to expand their impressive repertoire.
Your influences?
Our influences, and who we may sound similar to, are very different. All members of Sinde Kise are songwriters and we are influenced by a wide variety of musicians, songwriters, and performers. To name a few: Loretta Lynn, Bruce Springsteen, Chrissie Hynde and The Pretenders, Elton John, Joan Jett, The Clash, The Who, The Jam, Jimi Hendrix, James Brown, Johnny Cash, Santana. We may or may not be influenced by more recent artists but usually go see: Aimee Mann, Liz Phair, Phish, Cake, Indigo Girls, Rusted Root, Goo Goo Dolls, Beck, K.D. Lang, Cibo Matto, Pavement, Rancid, Shonen Knife, Sonic Youth, Stereolab, Cracker, Bad Religion, and Marilyn Manson. But who do we sound like? We've been described as "Cake-Like Meets Josie and the Pussycats" or as "Blondie with Liz Phair on lead vocals." We write smart lyrics, catchy riffs, and love to rock out hard.
