I'm not a band, its just me.
I've been alive for some time now and I like to write music.
Why this name?
Its just a nickname
Do you play live?
I live in Huddersfield, yorkshire, England. Europes biggest town apparently but its small to the residents. Small-minded anyway. sh*** music scene.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think it changes the future for artists and bands. The diy ethic has never been so rife. Its like high technology meets punk rock attitude. The independent music scene has never been so independent. I'm excited again about what it will bring to music. If artists are willing to put the time in they can make a name for themselves without the help of the majors or their subsidiaries and I think we're only just seeing the start of whats coming.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I'd consider it if the deal was good and had freedom to write without a&r bullying to make pop songs but im not sure thats even possible now. They dont have any money to risk. Serves them right for the ridiculous corporate greed we've probably all witnessed. Greed will always seal its own fate. The question is, do we actually need them now?
Band History:
I dont think it matters to be honest. Noone knows who I am let alone any bands i've been in.
Your influences?
Everyone and noone.
Snippets of conversation overheard on a bus. Passing strangers arguing. A look in someones eye that contradicts the words being said. I guess the things we normally miss unless we look closer.
Favorite spot?
Star of Arcady, constellation Ursa Minor RA 02 31 48.7
Equipment used:
Recording is done on a home pc using cubase sx3 and shitloads of plug-ins. I use semi acoustic and offset guitars mainly fender jaguar and es335 through various effects pedals into a vox ac30. The songs you hear on here dont have much guitar on them though. Thats all coming with the new band.
strings, pianos and other instruments are usually done with software and a midi keyboard.
Using software and computers to make music means I can make music alone but im slowly returning to outboard equipment as I find the hands on approach much more satisfying.
Home computers are the biggest part of the diy movement we're currently experiencing and should never be overlooked but they can make the process of making music a little sterile and less creative in some ways. You just cant beat the editing though.
