Camburn has been bringing listeners diverse hip hop music since the late 1990's and she is still running strong. With her most recent album release "Biography" produced by ProDesign Productions, she is getting a new popularity and is seeking new fans like you!

A note from Camburn:

I?ve been writing poetry and songs since I was a little girl. I've always been the type who could express myself better through some form of art. I have been through and seen many many things from abuse to homelessness to infidelity and abandonment and I have survived it all. I write music to share my insight and experience with the world. Maybe there is someone out there who will hear a song of mine and be able to relate to it or they will know that they are not alone in their pain. I dunno. I also come from a time when hip hop was real hip hop. I got tired of hearing the same ole same ole clones of today and I decided to start making my own stuff, lol. I do hip hop, rock, and a bit of R&B sometimes. I hope you like the music. If you like what you hear you can visit me on my myspace (myspace.com/camburnspits) or you tube (youtube.com/camburnz) or twitter (twitter.com/camburnspits). My music is also available on amazon.com, iTunes, Rhapsody, Napster, and most other online stores as well as participating Virgin Records, Sam Goody, F.Y.E., and Best Buy retailers for purchase. Thanks again for listening! Make sure you comment too if you like it and tell me what song you heard.
Why this name?
It is my last name and the name my husband gave me.
Do you play live?
Yes, I do play live, mostly in the New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania region of the United States as of now. I love it but I have a little trouble dealing with my anxieties from time to time. Anytime that a crowd gets into your music and the experience becomes interactive is a special moment.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Well, it doesn't really change the industry, but it does improve the likelihood of lower income and status artists, independents, and freelancers to get their message out to the world. The one thing that it certainly does change is that you don't have to wait for Sony BMG or Polyphonic level record labels to notice you for you to begin touring and getting radio play. Which was a stereotypical reality only but ten years ago.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Maybe, depends on the fine print. My husband is in PR and runs an indie label that puts the artist at the helm of their own careers. I have known a few bands and performers that started with major labels and left the scene broke, penniless, and in debt to those labels. All those CDs and Touring Localities don't come from their acts of charitable kindness and generosity! LOL! Record labels are like banks, don't sign the contract if you can't afford the loan.
Band History:
Not really much a band, my husband and I have been best friends for seven years and he became my engineer/composer. He has been "in the music" for about 15 years. I have been writing poetry and song for many years now and finally decided to bring it to the charts and see what happens!
Your influences?
Queen Latifah is my main influence, she is just great, a great role model y'know? She stands tall, is proud, talented, respectable, and successful. She is what all women really want to be inside. MC Lyte, 2pac, Notorious B.I.G., Busta Rhymes, Missy Elliot, and Eve are other influences and represent talented hip hop performance regardless if they are mainstream or not.
Favorite spot?
Haven't made a solid determination yet but, my husband held a benefit concert for the "S.A.V.E. the Earth" group of Richard Stockton College, they were raising money for disabled children's camps in the Atlantic City region and we played at this huge bar-n-grill called the "Blue Marlin" in Galloway NJ. I really liked the dark neon-lighting-lit room. It made my anxiety ease up a whole bunch! LOL!
