928 Saints is a collaboration of 3 mc's: Tip-C, Cannabis, and D-Smoke. We've written, recorded, and mixed everything ourselves ever since day one. Never had the opportunity to set foot in a real studio and get advice from a professional producer. What you hear is a result of everything we've learned completely ON OUR OWN. Which we think is a good thing because we can set everything to exactly how we want it, not how a producer thinks it should be... Now, with about a year and half of experience under our belt, we have each found our own distinct styles and are working hard on producing our first album March of the Saints. Cannabis has a soundproof studio built in his house with the help of our buddy Brandon, and is buying all new recording equipment, so most of our older songs will be rerecorded for the album. You can expect the album to drop sometime around March of next year... We are also trying to get as many shows as possible. If you are a bar, club, or just throwin a party and would like us to perform, dont hesitate to send us a message. We are willing to travel too... I guess thats all I can say, we're just some buddies that like to party, have a good time, and want to make a living doing what we love! SAINTS
Why this name?
928 is our hometown.. and the way we rhyme is godly, so we picked 928 Saints =]
Do you play live?
ya we play at a local bar here in our town once a month. we also played at our town festival, which was our biggest show. other than that, just hows parties.. were trying to get more lined up we love doin shows!
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
i think the internet makes it alot easier for the average person to be heard. before sites like this and myspace you pretty much had to already be on a record label or know the right people to get your stuff out there.. i also think it kind of hurts the industry at the same time because now artists arent getting credit for their work due to illegal downloading
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
hell ya! we would rather be on an independent label such as Strange or Suburban Noize, where we can do more of our own thing not what a major label wants us to do. but hey money makes the world go round.. we would still be ourselves on a major label maybe just fit it a little better for the mainstream audience
Your influences?
Tech N9ne and Kottonmouth Kings are our biggest musical influence.. other than that i would just say the bullshit of everyday life and crazy nights of partyin!
Favorite spot?
San Diego.. f***in beautiful!
Equipment used:
MXL 3000 with a Lexicon Preamp and Audacity to mix.. we are in the process of upgrading right now though. we had a soundproof studio built and are buying the Neumann u87 along with a better preamp and mixing program
