deaf kitty is like a hurricane combining the raw power of the storm with the serene calm of the eye. born of the imagination of Richard Miller (that would be me) dk delivers a full sonic landscape, mixing hypnotic walls of sound with surreal beauty. with subject matter ranging from abstract childhood imagination to political views, from real life experiences to fictional tales, from playing in the yard with the dog to the far reaches of the universe. sometimes serious, sometimes humorous, deaf kitty is about diversity and freedom and nothing less.
Why this name?
my (Richard) cat used to sit in on jam sessions and was unfazed by the noise. my buddy Russ said that "that cat must be deaf to withstand that noise and the nickname "deaf kitty" sorta stuck to her. thus it was the name I chose for my creative output.
Do you play live?
In the past yes, but seeing as though I don't live in a cultural mecca, it has become more important to me to work on my projects than wasting my time with the lifeless music scene in Pensacola. and so I've chosen the internet as my way out. I do love to play live though and I certainly plan on doing it some more. I just want to play in a place where it will be appreciated.
