I'm Ken Osheim of Texas Nightlife and I am a 40 year veteran of the music business. I have played all across the country and in Canada and Mexico. I am a singer and a song writer as awell as a promoter of other artists and writers. I am a proud member of ASCAP and strongly support the rights of other artists and songwriters.
Why this name?
We chose the name because, as Willie says, "the nightlife, aint no good life, but it's our life".
Do you play live?
I still perform at the age of 55 and probably will perform for many years to come. I love entertaining, not for the rush, but the enjoyment of making folks happy and helping them to forget about their problems for a few hours.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It opens the music business up and allows writers and singers who have little chance at exposure, to be heard by a much larger audience.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
If the right opportunity came up, yes.
Band History:
Currently I am a single since my partner Jim Brown passed away in September of 2006. Before Texas Nightlife, I was lead singer for New Beginnings for many years. This band also included my ex-wife as well as other long time friends. My history before that was varied to include 60's-70's garage bands so I've been around the block a bit.
Your influences?
I would say George Strait and Vern Gosdin are the 2 biggest influences as well as Sammy Kershaw. I also had the luck of having an uncle who was personal friends with Johnny Cash while growing up as a kid.
Favorite spot?
Alamosa, Colorado, the prettiest place I ever played.
Equipment used:
Standard PA, 12 string guitar, and we use primarily midi backup files for live performances.
Anything else...?
I am the co-host of a live music room on weekends, at PalTalk in the Country music section called, TexasNightlife. we are open every weekend, Friday and Saturday at 7:30pm central time. Everyone is welcome.
