Halo Stereo is a band that was formed in Murfreesboro, TN in Febuary 2002. Each member is from a different musical backgrounds and they come together to form their eclectic sound.

The band is comprised of:

  • Andrew Fry: vocals, keyboards, guitar
  • Robert Smith: guitar, keyboards
  • Jody Hicks: bass, vocals
  • Will McCracken: drums

Why this name?
We chose our band name after meeting with Cinjun Tate of Remy Zero and discussing music... and "death by stereo" was already taken.
Do you play live?
Yes, as much as we can. We live in Murfreesboro, TN. There is a great indie rock scene here. We all went to MTSU.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet is now the way to go for rock bands. You will never see a good rock group on MTV anymore. The internet is a better medium anyhow.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes, certainly. The more people we can reach, the better.
Band History:
Jody Hicks, Will McCracken and Andrew Fry moved from Athens, AL to Murfreesboro, TN after high school with the intention of going to college and forming a band. There they met an extremly talented musician, Robert Smith (not the guy from The Cure).

In Febuary of 2002, they formed the band Wanderlust. They later changed their name over legal reasons. Thus, Halo Stereo was born.

Your influences?
We like a lot of different things. Andrew is a classically trained pianist and he really likes Chopin, Debussy and keyboard oriented music. Robert is essentially a jazz guitarist and so he likes John Scofield and other jazz guitarists. There are a few bands/groups we all really like such as Radiohead, Peter Gabriel, Aphex Twin, Smashing Pumpkins and such.
Favorite spot?
The BORO, TN
Equipment used:
Here's our keyboard rig: Nord Micro-modular, Korg X5D, Roland Juno-60, Yamaha A4000 sampler, and Roland SP-808.

Andrew uses Fender Strats and Bob prefers Gibson Les Pauls. Jody plays a 76' Fender Jazz Bass. Will plays DW drums.
