Yello.

My name is Scatterboxx.
These are some of my instrumentals.

Please see the licensing link located to the left for the prices of leasing & exclusive rights,
if interested in using/purchasing.

They showcase some of my abilities & skills.
So... if you like my style, I can almost certainly work with you.
In fact...
I am willing to make entire instrumentals from scratch upon the request of any emcee, vocalist, or whoever.
Just shoot me an email.

Most of these have been done exclusively by yours truly;
however,
some were collaborative efforts.

Joint projects/bands I've worked with include Shades of Grey, Soon Might Be Too Late, The Barracuda Bites, Blanco Broncos, Disco Nebula, & others.

Most of these instrumentals are hip hop-based. Most are alternative, though some have a more "mainstream" feel.
[Blahhhhhhhh.]
Some aren't very hip hop at all;
a few electronic, rock, acoustic, & other variously stylistic instrumentals can also be found here, as well.
[You may have to do a bit of digging...]

Some of these are finished.
Others aren't.
In fact, some are merely 16 bar beats I never got back to, but had a wee bit of potential.
Still, I put them up here for fellow emcees...
So y'all can conceptualize, picture [then provide] structure & sequence, & perhaps then work with me to create your ideal beat.

Some are for sale.
Others are not, because they have already been used.
[Or for legal reasons... Psh.]

The instrumentals are sold based on price negotiations.
Most instrumentals can be fully customized,
meaning...
want a change of tempo? You got it. Ain't feeling the bass line? I'll fix it... or hell, get it rid of it. Wishing the trumpet melody was actually played by guitar instead? Not a problem. Nearly anything you have in mind that you'd like changed, added, stripped or whatever for the customizable instrumentals can be done.
Still, however, some [but not many] come sold as is.
Whatever the case, though... the price is negotiable.

Any offers, questions, comments, negotiations, requests, etc...,
please e-mail me at scatterboxxrocks@gmail.com.

Also...
peep Scatterboxx rock @ www.myspace.com/idliketohearyourap... his lyrics are dope, yo. He's also a bit skilled in other areas of this whole hip hop thing, too...

Have a listen.
K, thanks.
-Scatterboxx/D.
Why this name?
Scatterbrain + Chatterbox.

[plus an x 'cause I'm cool like that, ya dig.]
Do you play live?
Yes. I perform with various artists; mainly in the northeast, & particularly New England. [I'm a Mass native.]
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
In more ways than most people realize.

For upcoming artists,
it provides free networking tools such as forums that range from genre-specific to business-related.
It also provides us small time acts with free promotional tools such as myspace & soundclick. We, as indie musicians, have seemingly limitless opportunities thanks to cyberspace.

Consider the following:
...I network through various forums, as well as through myspace & soundclick; referring all contacts to my myspace page. At that site, you will find music videos, video blogs, 6 of my current "singles" as featured songs that are directly streamable, promo pics, blog entries, my entire soundclick.com/scatterboxx catalog condensed into one widget [15 tracks or so that anyone can directly stream], a link to sign up for my mailing list, & another widget of sorts that acts as an mp3 store where one can purchase my album 'Lucid Safari' or various b-sides & rarities of mine. That's not even the full list...
The setup I just described is run entirely for free.

eMusic = a phenomenon.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Probably not. Most creative control would be lost.

Not to mention the fact that I'd surrender half my rights & most of my life to them.

If I ever sign, it's more likely it'll be to an indie label;
although that depends on their willingness to allow me creative control & provide my other personal demands.
Your influences?
RJD2, DJ Shadow, Moby, Aphex Twin, El-P, Aesop Rock, Blockhead, 9th Wonder, Just Blaze, Ant, Sigur Ros, Radiohead, Dr. Dre, Kanye West, Clint Mansell, Badly Drawn Boy, Jon Brion
Favorite spot?
The four-one-three.

But the Boston area, Cape Cod, the eight-six-oh, & also the Rotten Apple rock at times, too.
Equipment used:
Software: Logic Pro, Reason, Ableton, Pro Tools.
MIDI: Oxygen 8, MPD16.
Computer: Macbook Pro - OS 10.5.
Interface: M-Box 2.
Mic: SM57.
Anything else...?
[...you can see where I get the Chatterbox part of my name from, I'm sure.]
