We're a Christian rock band based in the Seattle, WA area. Our purpose is to glorify God with music and, hopefully, bring others closer to God's truth...and rock out at the same time. Our music is contemporary, yet has a bit of an "old school" rock sound.
Why this name?
We had a list of about 75 potential band names. Risen Son is what we're all about, so that name stuck.
Do you play live?
We just wrapped up production on our 2nd CD and just hooked up with a new drummer. We're currently rehearsing and will begin playing live soon. We'll play just about wherever anyone wants us!
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It opens up a lot of doors for independent artists to get their music heard.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Possibly. It would depend on the terms.
Band History:
Jay and Colin hooked up in late 2006, following Jay's calling to record a Christian rock CD. Two CD's later, they're thrilled to be joined by a new drummer, Chris Brown. Their latest release, Broken, will be out before Christmas of 2008. They're currently rehearsing for live shows.
Your influences?
Our influences are wide and varied, from CCM bands such as Newsboys, Whiteheart & Petra, to older rock bands like Rush and the Police and Toad the Wet Sprocket.
Equipment used:
Fender Strat, Les Paul, Martin 12-string acoustic, Fender Jazz bass, various effects pedals, and drums. Lots of drums.
