TEXAS BACK are a British Country Music act that have been playing on the Northern Country Music scene stages since 2006.
Why this name?
It TEXAS BACK (Takes us Back!) to the music we listened to when we were kids
Do you play live?
We play as a duo or a trio on the British Country Music scene and have enjoyed playing at many clubs around the North of England and a few in Scotland. We have played at the GREAT NORTH COUNTRY MUSIC FESTIVAL in 2007 and 2008 and have also been the guest artists on the SAM HARRIS COUNTRY MUSIC SHOW on NE1fm (newcastle 102.5fm). We are also regularly mentioned in the British country music press in magazines like GIG's & JIG's, COUNTRY ROUTES, CROSS COUNTRY etc.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It provides a far wider audience.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Hmm, Depends on what they we're offering in return for my babies!!!
Band History:
My Sister and I have sang together since we were children but really started playing together regularly at The Aclet Hotel, Bishop Auckland in 2005 at their Country singaround (open mic) night. We had our first pro gig at 'The Broken Wheel CWC, Hessledon WMC on Feb 16th 2006 and have had loads of gigs since then including the COUNTRY ROUTES MAGAZINE CHRISTMAS PARTY 2006, THE GREAT NORTH COUNTRY MUSIC FESTIVAL 2007 & 2008 and The SAM HARRIS COUNTRY MUSIC SHOW on NE1FM 102.5 (Newcastle on Tyne) Aug 2008.
Your influences?
Amerian Country - The Eagles, Tanya Tucker, Travis Tritt, Loretta Lynn, Brad Paisley, Johnny Cash, Pam Tillis, Garth Brooks, Shania Twain, Hayseed Dixie etc.
British Country - Deisel Cowboys, Dillinger, Rootin Tootin, The Gibsons, Dave Cash, Wrangler, Red Canyon, The Fever, Brian Hughes and the loan sharks, Swing Commanders (original line up)
Australian - Travis Collins
We really enjoy jammin together on old and new country songs and working out our harmonies. Some of our new stuff (yet to be recorded) is coming on great at the moment it's just a matter of logistics in getting to the studio again. We could record everything at home these days but we enjoy the experience of working in a professional studio and at least we have an engineer available to sort out all those technical hitches

Anything else...?
DEBBIE and GAV!N (Sister and Brother) started singing together as children and were brought up in and around the country music scene. having played at family BBQ's and parties for years we decided to put an act together and hit the road with DEBBIE on lead and harmony vocals, GAV!N on rhythm guitar and vocals and our collection of great sounding backing tracks. After some successfull reviews in Country Routes magazine and Gigs and Jigs magazine our future gigs list grew much faster than we expected.
In June 2006 DEBBIE met TOMMY and after a whirlwind romance they got engaged 8 weeks later. TOMMY had previously played drums with his mum TRACEY LEE WALKER and RED CANYON. Having also had some great training on the guitar from his dad (Who had played with ALBERT LEE and others) TOMMY started working with us as a Lead Guitarist and vocalist.
In 2007, after loads more gigs as both a DUO and a TRIO, we were invited to do a trio spot at THE GREAT NORTH COUNTRY MUSIC FESTIVAL 07. It was a bit daunting to think that we would not be allowed to use our backing tracks as we didn't have a bassist or drummer but we worked really hard on our 3 part harmonies/rhythm guitar/lead guitar sound and had a fantastic time whilst earning ourselves some new respect for doing our thing. We have since played our second year at the Great North and are enjoying it all even more!
The Gig list continues to grow
TOMMY and DEBBIE got married last year on 1st September so that means we now enjoy having a FAMILY front line. It seems to work for us and we love doing what we do.
