SoundClick artist: geesmith - Spontanious Spring Studio/alternative-psychaderock <br /><br />...hello?

NEWS geesmiths Dan Dares.. album 'released'.., on itunes, e-music, napster etc....like a mended wild thing. I went forward, I went back. I allowed it out and it poured readily so I occasionally grasped the moment and shrugged off "take two"...why risk spontaneity if take one will do?
I have added some tunes from One Small Step...
from around 1998. A lot of sampling was employed at this time.....particularly sampling myself......
I am currently working on an album of absolute silence for people that live or work in noisy surroundings to listen to....for a change...play that as loud as you like...following Andy Handleys advice I got most of the samples by saying naughty words at the Womens Institute and recording the response...needless to say you could hear a pin drop (which you will hear around 2 mins 40secs into the second track...just after the little hiss...which I had to add myself as the new fangled recording gear doesn't have hiss included!).

I just couldn't help myself....everything around me either had strings, keys or skins...it seemed the only escape was to wear each one out. In the panic the only grace being the constant tunes in my head.... this would be childsplay......things usually are (yeah right!)......slipping on headphones I calmed my mood by telling myself....it was all still a dream!!!
I normally record with headphones but always listen to everything on speakers..in the studio...in the lounge...in the kitchen...in the car and one thing that always gets me past the 'that'll do' stage....just turn it up full!!

....it seemed important not to be called . . . ? . . . See what I mean? Though if my name was Mark and I had all the answers...question mark would be quite a good name....

I play live when I'm recording, writing or escaping.....other than that I no longer play live......

How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?

It allows the music to not be set out in rows in that store....way over there. . .

Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

Yes. . . if the coffee was great....

Band History:

The 'history' started around 6 months ago....after I wiped a hard drive thinking all my files were safe elsewhere.......I didn't even get that stuff heard by more than a few friends....I think it's great if someone can download your baby and go there....

I like to think someone is hearing what I did in a pleasant situation....it inspires me to do more.....
I like to think I'm a bit of a cult. :D

Your influences?

My greatest influences have been Frank Zappa, Syd Barrett, Faithless, Portishead, Ludwig van Beethoven, Iggy Pop, the Kinks, the Chemical Brothers, Pink Floyd, Leftfield, Brian and Terry Roach, Massive Attack, Janet Smith, Wreckless Eric, John Otway, Graham Beck, General Levi, Norman Cook, Johnnys Magic Harmonica.....of course you wouldn't expect that to be apparent while listening to my work...not all at once.

Favorite spot?

I'm sitting there now....anything within 60 yards of here.

Equipment used:

Blonde Telecaster, blue (must paint that) Telecaster, Artisan lap steel, Evolution M249e keyboard (which I just knocked over...but it's alright). Custom fretless bass

I've called this 'album' Dan Dares.... the running order is on the site. If you grab the mp3's and join them in the intended order, without gaps or pauses, a wonderful thing happens....well..I spent a lot of effort with that intention.
