Flowing Foliate Patterns were an avant-garde progressive rock band from New Mexico. Between 1997 and 2008, they wrote and recorded about 200 compositions mixing avant-prog, jazz, modern classical, vintage cartoon music, and world influences. The three core members, Ellora H., Adalaj V., and Z.S. Hegede played multiple instruments including mellotron, vibraphone, bassoon, oboe and baritone sax along with the traditional bass, guitar, and drum set-up. A 5-LP, limited edition (50 copies only), boxset entitled "The Froth is off and the Music has Subsided" was released in 2006 on the Tucson, Arizona, indie label, Pigeon Chest Records. The boxset features the band's most complex and colorful compositions. A 7" single titled "Drunk on Mundungus & Double-brewed Bub" was recently unearthed at a record store in Pacifica, California. The band called it quits after founder Z.S. Hegede vanished in early 2008 during a trip to the mysterious ruins of Nan Madol in Micronesia.
