Welcome. Murray Wilde here and I'm a songwriter from the Okanagan Valley in BC, Canada. Since 2005 I've written and composed music in a variety of genres from Rock, Pop, Folk and Inspirational to Country, World, Instrumental and Parody.
I often collaborate with other artists with the ambition to create a sound that will strike a chord with listeners and an eventual goal of publishing a song or writing professionally.
Member of SOCAN (Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada) and Songwriters Association of Canada.
Why this name?
The bandname Wilde was taken so I went with the obvious 1.
Do you play live?
Albert Hall, Shea Stadium and The Fillmore were memorable but I still prefer my garage.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Top-selling albums on Amazon MP3 and Apple's iTunes for 5 bucks pretty much tells the story.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I'll leave that decision up to my legal department.
Band History:
2005 - Song Of The Year.com: selected as a 'Suggested Artist'.
2006 - Narrative Music Canada: 'Lyric Of The Year' for the song "Hide and Seek".
2007 - SoundClick.com: selected as a first runner-up from over 8400 entries in a 10th Anniversary Song Contest. Awarded a 10 year VIP account.
2008 Jan - Nashville Song Service: Lyric Writing Contest Honorable Mention for the song "One Big Heart".
2008 July - "Hot Girl" featured on a 21 song T.E.A. Canada compilation CD released world-wide 02/09 to all formats of radio, film and print media.
Your influences?
Musically, I'm influenced by the events of this thing called LIFE and inspired by the Golden Age of Classic Rock, Pop & Folk with artists like America, The Beatles, Buffalo Springfield, Byrds, Captain Beyond, Cat Stevens, CSN&Y, Deep Purple, Gordon Lightfoot, Iron Butterfly, Jethro Tull, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Moody Blues, Peter, Paul & Mary, Pink Floyd, 10cc, Rare Earth, The Who, Yardbirds.
Favorite spot?
Atlantis
Equipment used:
Yamaha 12 string acoustic, Washburn electric, Band in a Box, Sony Acid, Boss Digital Recorder and a home-made PC, as well as other artist's talents and resources.
Anything else...?
