Heart stopping melodies, driven bass lines and imaginative composition comes to mind when describing Hugh Campbell's work. Music that inspires and instills the ultimate sensation of wonder and fantasy.
Why this name?
It was given to me at birth - speak to my mum and dad.
Do you play live?
No live events yet, but i would seriously love to!
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
well, from an independent artist's perspective - I'm all for using the internet as a tool for musicians to grow, learn and share their skills with others and the rest of the world :)
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
That's a tough question actually. I have long been in support of artists taking charge of themselves and working around the corporate machine that is the "Major Record deal" being Independent can be more beneficial than most people may think...
Band History:
Hugh's musical career started in 1999 after discovering his natural ability composing progressive Trance, and Industrial arrangements. Although his music is ever changing, these genres still feature heavily in his work today. Hugh's music is highly regarded within the Independent music community worldwide and is constantly growing in popularity.

Hugh signed up with Neon Wave Productions in 2004; an independent label based in Glasgow , Scotland . His first 5 track EP was titled “Spiritual Revelation”. In early 2005, Hugh pursued his own marketing and distribution of his work – offering track downloads for free and doing remixes with other artists.

During 2005, Hugh, claimed the 2nd place award for the South African Music Industry Online (MIO) Annual remix competition, falling but 1 point behind the overall winner, Vaughan Phillips. The competition features some of the best electronic music producers from all across South Africa in varying skill levels ranging from bedroom producers, to highly recognized artists.

Throughout 2006 and 2007, Hugh's work was featured several times on the popular Sound Republic podcasts, hosted by Derek “the bandit” Richardson – a well known South African Radio and Club DJ.

Hugh's work has been played on numerous shows since and has been featured on hundreds of podcasts and web radio shows worldwide and as a result, Hugh's work has received many positive reviews in magazines like Sync'Up and Wired Mag.

Currently, Hugh is signed with a South African independent record label, Multitude Music, exposing Hugh's material to a greater online market through brands like iTunes, Beatport, Juno Download, Trackitdown and many more.

Hugh has provided remixes and done collaborations with several other independent and emerging artists namely; Christina Berry, Patrick Sweeny, Ryan Vickers, Vaughan Phillips (Syntrax), Nick Easlern, Michelle Freeman, Fady Fyad (Psy Sprit), Alpha FX, Diverje, CDMP and others.

Hugh also composes and produces music for film and computer / console games.

By profession, Hugh works as a web designer and creative media manager for his own, small business and hopes to raise enough funds for live performances in the near future.
Your influences?
There are several artists that influence my work, and even now, my sound evolves with each new intereseting musician i come across.

But here are a few worth noting at present.

Dumonde, Signum, Yoji Biomehanika, Above and Beyond, VNV Nation and Covenant
Favorite spot?
I've always loved every club, pub, bar i attend from all over South Africa - choosing one favourite would be really hard, i do spend most of my free time around Johannesburg.
Equipment used:
Just my PC and various software - Acid 6 pro with several additional programs.
Anything else...?
Because I enjoy almost all types of electronic music - I'll always try reworking my sound, getting my hands on different genres and styles. As they say, variety is the spice of life!
