Why this name?
It's a family name and it means "Scary Angel" in English (it's italian), but it translates even further; the Scarangella (or Scary Angel) means the "Angel Of Death" in a biblical sense.
Do you play live?
We just recently started to play out a lot. I'd have to say, for the band, and for myself, that the 2/24/08 show is probably the highest peak in our career as of yet. It was a small crowd of just our friends/fans/people working the venue, but it was the single most satisfying show we've played. It marked the true completion of our band.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It's helps a lot.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Of course, a worldwide spread of our music is our dream. We write this music for the sole purpose of getting people to hear us and feel what we feel.
Band History:
The band has a long complex history starting with founding member/main songwriter Nick back to 2002, but it wasn't until 2006 that Evan and Chris joined the band and Scarangella started to take form.

Before they joined the band Nick went through 3 different drummers and 6 different bassists (including himself in the beginning, before he moved to guitar), 7 different guitarists, and 5 singers. he finally found a bassist and drummer that were here to stay.

For a while they didn't play very many shows because they still needed a singer. Eventually, they found another guitarist who seemed to fit what they needed. Soon after they got the opportunity to play a battle of the bands, but were still without a singer. Nick decided, after some convincing from Evan, to call an old singer to do the show. He agreed and it seemed like Scarangella was complete and ready to go.

Right off the bat, tensions started to arise against the new guitarist, who seemed to be a bit of a control freak and an utter annoyance. They put up with him though because, out of pure honesty, he was the one who had the PA, and Scarangella needed one for their singer.

Things were going well until the week before the show. The singer didn't show to practice on Tuesday, and eventually refused to do the show (which was on a Sunday) by Friday. Nick became very infuriated and was about to call the show off, until he realized, "F*** it, I wrote the songs, I'm sure I can sing them".

They then moved on to the next round. Nick enjoyed the experience of singing, but decided it's not for him, he's a guitar player. Nick decided to call another ex-singer who was never available, but became available right when he needed him. This was Dylan. Dylan jumped right on board and absolutely destroyed their ex-singer vocally, energy-wise, and attitude-wise. He was the perfect fit.

After the final round of the battle in January '08, Scarangella finally had the ability to tell the other guitarist to get lost. They were fed up with his sloppy playing (when he actually played, he stopped half of the time) and got the money to buy their own PA.

From that point on they got a modest amount of show offers. Nick was comfortable playing the guitar parts by himself, but still felt they could only benefit from another guitarist. After some friends showed interest, but no drive, Nick kind of lost hope. Until Dylan's cousin Nick displayed some interest in the band (after some convincing from the D-Man).

Nick played with them a little and from the start, it seemed to be a perfect fit. Nick only got to practice 3 times with the whole band (with a few sessions with Nick at home) before the February 24th show, but he rocked it and proved he is perfect for the band.

Scarangella is complete, finally.

It's March 6th, 2008 and this is the most up to date history on the band and will be updated (hopefully) frequently as more events occur.
Your influences?
If I were to give you an idea of what to expect of our music, it wouldn't really match our influences (we all have such insanely diverse tastes).

The best description I can think of is: low tuned hardrock/metal that is actually accessible to anyone with lyrics that people can actually relate to and also reflect the current state of people in the world. We have some really heavy stuff, but also some stuff that may sound light but is really message-heavy and can really make you feel it.
Equipment used:
Evan: Ibanez SR505 5-String Bass -> Genz Benz 50 Watt head -> Yamaha Oversized 1x15" Cabinet

Ninja Nick: Ibanez S7420 (stock) -> Line 6 Spider II 75 -> B-52 4x12" Cabinet

Nick: Ibanez RG7321 (Blaze bridge) -> Boss TU-2 -> Boss SD-1 -> Marshall G100R (effects loop) Digitech GNX1 (end loop) -> Mesa Recto over-sized Vertical 2x12" Cabinet
