I am a singer/songwriter in English and Spanish. I write mostly hymns in a fairly conservative style, but with enough melody and rhythm to hopefully be interesting.
Why this name?
I am using my given name.
Do you play live?
I perform in churches, mostly in southeastern Tennessee, where I live.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It provides those with limited resources who are not widely known with a means to share what they have with a wide audience.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes, as long as I have some jurisdiction as to style.
Band History:
I first began writing music in 1973, but my skills gradually matured thereafter. In 1992, I wrote "Let My Heart Be Broken," which seemed to catch people's attention more than most of what I had written before. I wrote quite a number of songs thereafter, and this year I finally managed to record an album, called Heroes for Christ.
Your influences?
My greatest influences are probably the great hymnwriters of the recent centuries - Charles Wesley, Isaac Watts, etc. The one whom I feel closest to musically is Ralph Henderson, whose music is available at http://www.totalgrace.com/TGPMusic.html
Of the well-known vocalists who are more recent, the closest ones I can think of for the moment are Pat Boone and Michael Card. My style has also been compared to the country/folk songwriter Stuart Hamblen and to Burl Ives.
Favorite spot?
The forested mountains of eastern Tennessee and the beaches of Florida.
