If you were able to take a portion of Marty Robbins, and then combine a bit of Merle Haggard, then some Muddy Waters added with John Lee Hooker, you have a start of Rex Rambler. Finishing the final touches by adding Angus Young, and then David Grey, with generous dash or two of Ben Harper, you will have a deeper understanding of Rex Rambler's music and style.
I grew up in a home where the radio was preferred over the Television Set. I am fortunate to have a family rich with talent. My grandfather and Uncle were my idols. As a kid I would listen to them pick those great songs from Sonny James, or Cal Smith, and yes, Marty Robbins. I a thankful for my grandfather and uncle and my mother for investing in me, and taking the time with love and care to teach me what they knew. Every one of my original songs are a direct result of their gift to me.
Music has sustained me both spiritually and mentally through my life. I have always been able to turn to my guitar and if nothing else play a little tune which comes from my heart my mother created in me.
I am now focusing on my songwriting skills. I have learned that talent will indeed get you started, however, hard work an open mind, and diligence is also needed to cultivate that talent into a skill.
I hope you enjoy what you hear, and as well welcome any all input.
Peace

Why this name?
Rex is my middle name. I have always gone by that. Rambler is my handle left over from my many years being a trucker.
Do you play live?
Live is all I know. Performing for an audience is where I believe I shine. I really get high in giving an audience something to tap their toes to and hum under their breath.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It opens doors for artists who would other wise be limited in sharing their music. Still there is a need to protect your creations, thus register your copyright and join an organization like BMI or ASCAP as soon as possible.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I would so long as it does not involve my eventually being head lined on E True Hollywood Story. Seriously, I can't think of any aspiring artist who would not want a record deal. However, in spite of what American Idol suggests, the "lucky-break" really has very little to do with luck.
Band History:
Not much of a history really, at least, nothing unique. Like every band, there are ups, and downs. Most often the downs out number the ups. Alas the business of entertainment remains challenging.
Your influences?
Johnny Cash, Marty Robbins, Ben Harper, Muddy Waters, Angus Young
Favorite spot?
Right here in Missouri. Like Mr. Cash said though, "I've been every where man!"
Equipment used:
Whatever it takes to get it done. My Washburn Acoustic my Fender Resonator and my disturbingly cheap Epiphone copy of an SG.
