NEWS
I'll be in concert Monday, January 19th, 2009 at 8 p.m. at the beautiful Coligny Theatre near Coligny beach on Hilton Head Island in a benefit for The Deep Well Project. Admission price is a donation of any amount of food or funds to Deep Well, which is the local food pantry/relief agency on the island (believe it or not, there are thousands of people desperately in need even in such a wealthy area as Hilton Head, a major golf and resort destination! ...and donations are not nearly as robust as they need to be these days, due to the economy.) Anyone who arrives after the theatre is full and still makes a donation to Deep Well will receive a free copy of my CD, "By The Blood Of The Lamb", while they last. Doors open at 7.
Thank You, Father

PETER LIAM HOLCROSS
Do you play live?
Yes! In fact I just began my live music ministry ( in late 2008 ). I played in a bunch of churches in the Chicago area in the mid 80s with great response, but haven't had a chance to do it fulltime until now; so I'm starting near my home in the southeast region of South Carolina, and hope to broaden my ministry during 2009. We'll see how it goes, and take it one day at a time.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It's talent-driven rather than corporate-driven, which I think is very healthy.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I don't think so. I feel their constant (necessary) demand for profits and new product would stifle spiritual growth and stability, which is my sole reason for doing this in the first place. I prefer to take things nice and slow and easy, and be led by the Lord Himself. I worked in the Christian music industry in the 80s (radio), and there were way too many cynical, even faithless people making it tick. That shouldn't be, but it's almost inevitable when you get a powerful money-making machine rolling along: it's unstoppable. I'd like to keep my heart free from the thorns and cares of this life, if possible. Otherwise, what's the point of a Christian music ministry?
Band History:
My full story is at my website, www.peterliamholcross.com.
Your influences?
Generally, classic rock, like Boston, The Who, Genesis, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan. And all those Christian artists who are not imitators of others, but have real content, genuine spiritual focus and a vibrant connection to the Lord in their music. Too much Christian music today all sounds the same; slick and EXTREMELY well produced, but totally homogenized. But there are some really inspiring artists out there. Rich Mullins was one. I wept, as so many of us did, when we lost him.
Favorite spot?
Where I live on Hilton Head Island, SC. --- and Lecco, Italy, near Lake Como and the Italian Alps! Gorgeous. I visited there when I was a missionary in the early seventies, and on a warm March afternoon we played football in T-shirts and jeans in a meadow, then hopped on a cable-car that took us up into the mountains, where we skiied and toboganed in deep snow and had hot chocolate at a Swiss chalet! All in one afternoon. Awesome.
Equipment used:
On my album "By The Blood Of The Lamb" I used my 12 string Seagull Guitar, Yamaha Keyboards, Ludwig drums, Zildjian cymbals, an onboard Korg drum synthesizer, 3 harmonicas, mandolin, electric guitar and a wood box. I mixed it all on my Korg D12 Digital Recording Studio and mastered it on my PC using a Sonic Foundry program. In concert it's just me (for now) my guitar and harmonicas with an AudioChoice sound system and Danelectro echo. When I play I string my 12-string with only 8 strings, making it easier to play for long periods while adding a touch of the 12-string trademark sound.
Anything else...?
God loves you. He says, "Come now, and let us reason together: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool." -Isaiah 1:18
Accept His forgiveness for your sins in the Person of Him who died and rose again, Jesus Christ, and he will blot out your sins and give you a clean slate; He asks you to follow Him in loving obedience and He will restore your life and renew your spirit, and give you eternal life and happiness! It's that simple. He has never failed me once in nearly 4 decades of trusting Him as my Savior and Lord! God bless you. Thanks for listening. -Peter
