I write and record all my songs on an 8 track set up. I've got a small room now instead of using the kitchen although I do have to share the space with my daughter as the computers in the room too. I normally write around 4 am. I get woken up with some song banging in my head. It won't shut up till I write it all down. I write in various style from Rock through to Country. My main interest is to get a publishing deal. It would be great to get paid for doing something I love. I'm a member of the ISA - that's where I read about Soundclick, by the way. The ISA are great I'd recommend them to anyone. They're so helpful even if you're asking some really dumb question. I've dabbled in poetry and music for a large part of my life. I like to listen to all kinds of music. I would hate to be asked what my favourite song or artist is. Some days it's Mozart, some days Black Sabbath - the Ozzy version, mind -then another day maybe Eva cassidy.
Why this name?
I was looking for some of my tracks to burn off the player and there were so many other people with Jo at the start of their name, so I went for Josephine, my christian name and K. my surname so I could find my stuff quicker. It felt nice so i've started calling myself it when i submit material.
Do you play live?
I don't currently play live. I have been in some performance situations with other people though. Mainly in a Variety sense.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
it's taking the ball away from the fat cats. about time too! Podcasting is very exciting. I would like to do some if I could afford the kit. It's great that you can send songs to people that you may well never meet and they can do the same.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
A big question. A lot of people insist they won't sell out and then do. I'm keeping my options open until I find myself in that sort of position. It's called sitting on the fence.
