SEXY AND POWERFUL FEMALE VOCALS WITH INCREDIBLY MOVING SONGS THAT WILL ROCK YOUR WORLD... Whirl is a fantastic female-fronted band from NYC. Sheryl Crow meets the Foo Fighters...
Why this name?
The band was originally formed by lead singer Nikki a few years ago in London, England. The first drummer in the band was originally from a part of northern England called the Wirral. He kept talking about the place, and Nikki mistakenly thought it was called "the Whirl" and, while getting drunk with her bandmates one night, had the amazing revelation that this would be the perfect band name.
Do you play live?
Whirl plays regularly in NYC. Favorite venues included the Elbow Room, Lion's Den, Arlene Grocery & Mercury Lounge.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
mp3s make music much more accessible... it's now so easy to be heard all over the word.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yup.
Band History:
Whirl is an NYC-based pop/rock band that has been winning over audiences and critics alike with their live performances and beautifully crafted, radio-friendly CD.

Whirl is the creation of Nikki Maoz, a critically acclaimed singer, songwriter and guitarist who has resided in the U.S. as well as in England and in Israel. As a result, the music is infused with the occasional middle-eastern twist. Nikki originally formed Whirl in London, England, where the band performed at the city’s major clubs to many rave reviews.

After reforming Whirl in the States, the band has played most of the major clubs in the NY metropolitan area, including Mercury Lounge, CBGB’s, Arlene Grocery, The Bitter End and many more. Whirl has received glowing reviews stateside and has obtained airplay on both mainstream and college radio stations nationwide, including New York’s Q104.3 and New Jersey’s WFDU. Whirl is currently generating a buzz on numerous music sites and podcasts.
