It depends on the deal, I'm more interested in the team than the points. Getting a major record deal is a bit like getting on a plane to your final destination, but as an independent I'm enjoying the journey going at my own pace. I love it. I'm meeting a lot of interesting and beautiful people doing it this way and I love to travel. Bob Dylan is on what he calls a "never-ending tour", he's talking about the romance of the road, and if it's good enough for him, it's good enough for me.

In the Studio, I use the above, plus: Rode NT1 and Sennheiser 421 microphones (+ I hire a Neumann U87 sometimes); Joe Meek compression;, M-Audio Delta 1010 soundcard; n-Track Studio software; Lexicon MPX 100 reverb unit;, Fender Stratocaster and Aria Pro II Custom Bass guitars; acoustic double bass; acoustic percussion and an Alesis HR 16 drum machine.

I still use my old cassette 4 track as a note pad for ideas.

James was lead vocalist/frontman for Bristol-based band, JEBO from their first gig in 2003 until Spring 2009.
