SoundClick artist: The Dead Poet - Poetry come to life through Backpacker Hip-Hop

Well I've been in the music scene for about 2 years now in terms of recording, just not in the public with it. I've been writing poetry for over 7 years now and it has easily become my second language. I live life a day at a time without ever forgetting the past and how it has helped to shape the future ... poetic huh :p

Why this name?

My name was the made when I originally fashioned myself after "The Last Poets" but then I had some hard times and turned "dead inside" which lead to this one... voila !!

Do you play live?

Nah , nothing done live as yet and I doubt anything in the near future, this is all just a hobby.

How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?

The internet and mp3s don't change the industry that much, and if it does , then the industry is in need for a change. The internet lets smaller artists/bands get out a bit.

Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

Nah I don't think I would. What I do is just a hobby , I have more aspirations that making music for the rest of my life ( which I will , just not for a living )

Your influences?

I think it's easy to say that I'm influenced by the 'Backpackers' of the industry. Like Sage Francis, Aesop Rock and the guys of Atmosphere just to name a few.

Favorite spot?

Bloor and Spadina for some good eats.
