Scali is a guitarist from The Hague. He has been playing since the age of 16, is mostly self-taught, and inspired mostly by 80s/90s guitarists such as Joe Satriani, but also interested in various other guitarists, such as Shawn Lane or Les Paul.
After about 2 years, he and a friend got together and started writing and recording songs, and performing them on occasion.
When starting university, this creative cooperation came to an end.
But now Scali finds himself with a renewed interest in playing and writing music.
Jamming along with fellow musicians through the internet, writing and recording songs, and trying to put a new band together.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It's much easier now for musicians to get their music out to the public. Just record your music at home or in a studio, upload it to the web, and people can access your music.
It's also easier for people to reach the musicians now.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes, if this means they will provide the facilities for professional recordings, and help promote the music. This will allow me to write and record my music in the best way possible, and get it out to a larger audience.
Your influences?
Eddie van Halen, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Paul Gilbert, Yngwie Malmsteen, Tony MacAlpine, Michael Angelo Batio, Richie Sambora, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Les Paul, Shawn Lane, Al di Meola, Paco de Lucia, John McLaughlin, Pat Metheny.
