Hi - I'm Ian, and I'm a singer/songwriter from Leicester, England. I write in a number of styles, from finger-picked folk/country tunes, to up-tempo soft rock numbers - my influences are quite varied and sometimes it shows. What I'm sure of though is that if people dip into my catalogue they should hopefully find something that they like.

After some time away from music, in the last few months of 2005 I got a major dose of the writing bug, and the result was a new batch of songs to put 'out there'. These were recorded in the following January, and a number of them have since been uploaded here. THE FULL CD ALBUM, 'COMMUNICATION OVERDUE' IS NOW AVAILABLE AT CDBABY.COM.

Its now February 2009, once again new songs are flowing, and recording time is booked for next week - can't wait!! All being well, there will be a new second album available in late Spring/early Summer as a result. I will be previewing some of these new songs in upcoming gigs, and hoping to have them recorded and up here on soundclick as soon as possible.

If you like what you hear and would like to be kept up to date on shows and recordings then please join the mailing list. It'll be great to hear from you.

How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Anything that lets musicians get their songs out to a wider audience can only be a good thing
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes I would, although I'm not sure that I'm what they're looking for ! Nowhere near photogenic enough ! Would like to think though that it might be possible to get my songs published and recorded by others - you've got to have dreams.
Band History:
I've been writing songs since I was sixteen, but have only been playing live for ten years. I started out playing open mic spots at the City Acoustic Club in Leicester. As well as gaining valuable experience and feedback there, I was also fortunate enough to play spots on nights where guests like Pete Morton & Robb Johnson headlined and learnt a great deal about performing and writing from such great artists.

In Spring 2008 I reformed duo called Evangeline (named randomly from an Ian McNabb track-listing!) with my friend Pete Raj. Originally gigging together in the '90s we split amicably when Pete's rockier tastes meant joining up with a band called The Mile, but now he has the acoustic vibe again! Highlights have included playing a festival in Leicester, a few trips down to London, and playing with the Diesels, but I'm sure the best is still to come !!

There is a CD out released early in 2006 (see above), and I'm really proud of the songs that are on there. Several of them are here on Soundclick now - I hope that you'll enjoy them - as well as some like Reunion Day that are currently only available here. We also have new Evangeline material at www.soundclick.com/evangelineduouk.
Your influences?
I love so much music that its hard to narrow down, but here goes.... some songs I wish I'd written and inspired me to try are Nanci Griffith - Love at the 5 & Dime, Icicle Works - Little Girl Lost,Pete Morton - Another Train, The Beatles - Strawberry Fields Forever, Crowded House - Fall at Your Feet, Snow Patrol - Rise, Richard & Linda Thompson - A Heart Needs A Home... So, from a Texan country singer to an Irish indie band, via the Beatles - pretty eclectic, but always melodic.
Favorite spot?
Lots of places, but the winner is probably the Yorkshire coast - north bay at Scarborough, or having a pint at Robin Hood's Bay
Equipment used:
Its just me, my voice and my acoustic guitar - no overdubs or artificial additives!
Anything else...?
All recordings done at Stayfree Studios, Leicester - thanks to Kev Reverb for engineering, mixing and producing.
New recordings in March 2009 to take place at Musoplex in Oldbury, West Midlands

'TINSELTOWN' - Download available here at soundclick, or at indiestore....all proceeds to cancer support charity in Dudley, England. Many thanks for your support.
