I'm Claus Rogge. I've been working with homerecording since 1977 and have now got a fully digital studio (Apple G5) at home. I play a variety of guitars and basses, Chapman Stick (on newer pieces only!) some easy keyboard and drums. Some of my pieces are mainly vehicles for improving my improvisational skill (like improvising in 15/8 or on real crazed changes) and some are composed and have been thought about for a long time before I record them.
Why this name?
It's my real name, simple as that.
Do you play live?
too little. Bass in the school´s BigBand. Had a few gigs with a violin player. Some with a friend guitarist, working with a singer now on and off but no gigs so far.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Too many people make music because they hope to become millionaires or want to bathe in drugs and whores. Maybe we`ll get some more musicians on the scene and less wannabe rock stars!
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
No. Look what they did to Jack Bruce and he´s a legend who changed the run of history! What´ll they do to me???!!!
Band History:
Born 58, started playing guitar 68. Studied classical guitar with the great Heinz Irmler in Graz for 8 years, got into jazz with Martin Wiederhofer. Teaching guitar in a music school since 1994.
Your influences?
Too many to mention - Bach, the Beatles, Beethoven, Bill Bruford, Miles Davis, Stravinsky, John McLaughlin, di Lasso, Pat Martino and Metheny, Deep Purple, Frank Zappa, Yes, Joe Diorio, John Coltrane, Bruckner, Mahler, Messiaen, Jethro Tull. Forgot some I guarantee.
