Even if in perfection, the human mind doesn't anchor, but floats on in search of something more. And we do suffer for our ignorant curiosities. We slowly sink in a society that pushes power and control as though they were capabilities possible for a human to posses. Misanthropy relates to us as a dislike for what mankind has done to the human spirit, not as a hatred for the being that is mankind itself.
Why this name?
As a group, we embody the theory of misanthropy
Do you play live?
We tour. We're from Portland, but the road is our home.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It makes it much easier to be an indy band. You don't need the distribution channels that you once did to get your music to a vast audience of people. It's also not regulated by a label so the artist has more freedom to express themselves in an honest manner.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
If the deal was right perhaps. We just want to make a living doing what we all love. We're not trying to get rich, but everyone wants to be able to support a family at some point.
Band History:
Bennett and Ricky got together circa 1998 and started writing material. Found Drew out of a local weekly rag around 2003. He and Scott grew up together.
Your influences?
(Ricky) I personally listen to alot of Ani Difranco, Tool, Placebo, and Elliot Smith.
Favorite spot?
P-Town!
Equipment used:
We use Mesa Boogie, Pearl, Gibson, Fender, Audix.
