NEWS   Sorry everyone, sound click has shut me down again! I deleted all 118 blenz/remixes on this site. I put a lot of time and effort into my blenz/rmxs for this site, but every good thing must come to an end at some point. Anyway, I think this is my last time uploading anything on soundclick. I'd like to thank all of you who took the time to listen to my work and hopefully enjoyed some along the way. My blenz will still be played at my shows and very load in my car, so if you're on the block, you may hear me driving by with a blend you've never heard before.

Be Blessed, be safe and stay true to you and your music.

Peace

MAD PHLEXX is a natural born leader who has been blessed with the ability to think and create way beyond the ordinary. He’s been down with hip hop since 1979 where he started out as an emcee, transformed into a b-boy (The Floor Rockers) and later evolved as a dj/producer. As a DJ, he’s worked both commercial and college radio, was the proud owner of a hip hop record store called “BATTLE ZONE” in Albany, NY (The DJ Capital of the World!). He’s also been exposed to many genres of music through world travel, family and dedicated crate digging. He is considered to be a BATTLE DJ / MIXOLOGIST that has advanced his skills to the TURNTABLIST art form, yet his greatest assets are the combination of mixing, blending, cutting, scratching, beat juggling and the ability to rock parties. He is “THA FUTURISTIC PIONEER”.
As a producer, he uses his keen sense for hot sounds and dare to be different approach. He says he is rooted in hip hop yet every other genre is added to create his tracks. He calls himself a samplician because chopped samples are what he plays.
He now spends most of his time in beyond tha soul studio (his basement) resurrecting classics, creating break beats, remixes, dj style blenz and tracks, as always, FOR THE LOVE OF MUSIC.
Why this name?
I was MAD at the world and would blow up quick when I was younger and I use to lift crazy weights and Phlexx my muscles before DJ battles. So I put 2 & 2 together and naturally, Mad Phlexx was created. I'm not MAD anymore, so you can call me Phlexx.
Do you play live?
1)Not anymore.
2)I've DJed all over the world.
3)I loved it when you were allowed to be a real DJ and break records. Now they want you to be a juke box dj, I refused to sell my soul for wackness, so I retired.
4) I remember rockin the Louisville Garden back in like 1990-91 with NWA and I remember being setup to lose in the early round against this home town favorite "NATE THE GREAT" in ALBANY, NY in 1996 S.U.N.Y DJ BATTLE and I CRUSHED this kid and I don't think he ever battled again.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I don't know how it changes the music industry but I do know it helps the independent artist get heard through out the world with out having to be signed to a major label.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Never say never but as for now, NO. I love my creative freedom and the comfort of creating when my heart & soul desires. Plus, I don't work well with anyone trying to change who I am and what I believe. I don't do this for money, I do this, as always, FOR THE LOVE OF MUSIC!
Band History:
I've been DJing since 1985 and seriously Producing since 1994.
Your influences?
I love all phenomenal soulful musicians, specially funky drummers. As far as hip hop producers, I like: DJ Premier, DJ Spinna, Large Professor, Marley Marl, Hi-Tek,Jon Doe, Chops, to name a few.
Favorite spot?
MY BASEMENT & NEW YORK CITY (UPTOWN-HARLEM)
Equipment used:
DYOT-3 (DO YOUR OWN THING 3)+ (2 Turntables & a Microphone!) It's not the equipment you have, It's what you can do with the equipment you have.
Anything else...?
Big UP to all those who dare to be different! Stay true to yourself and your music. (Corporate Radio, BET and MTV, killed "REAL" Hip-Hop!). Don't allow anyone to force feed you garbage. Keep diggin and playing authentic music. You have the power! PEACE
