ACKOD brings a new element to electronic music. Just when you thought you heard it all, someone brings you A Certain Kind of Different, and that certain someone is Steven Fernandez.
This 22 year old male is from Hot Springs, Ark. Although, in a very small town, he brings big acceptance to himself globaly. Fans ranging from Germany, to Brazil, Japan and Canada, slowly but surely he makes himself a known name in the undergound electronic/goth scene. (With many thanks to his fans, other artist, and the internet.)
...........................................REVIEWS!.........................................
"ACKOD’s ultra minimalist electro industrial is gothy
and utterly moody.
One can just envision the grim
furrowed brow of the vocalist as he Teutonically
shares his bleak visions in electrosong with the
world. Blending dark, spartan electronic structures
driven by utilitarian goa-industrial beats (think
the minimal quality of Latex Empire),
gothic melody and ultra-serious vocals,
ACKOD comes off with a sound
that sounds like Germanic or Scandinavian
electro-industrial, only stripped down to teflon
leanness. While the music is minimalist, it does
conjure a healthy dark atmosphere and I can’t say
that I’ve heard just a ton of industrial bands taking
this approach. It’s almost as if they deliberately
eschewed the uberthick distortion of Decoded Feedback,
Frontline Assembly, Haujobb or someone like that,
opting instead for spacious but hard as steel
pulsations." - upchuck_undergrind

*BAND NAME: A Certain Kind Of Different
*ARTIST NAME: Steven Fernandez
ACKOD touches the dark seductive side of trip-hop, adding spices of hot dancey electro sounds and playful goth elements. A dark digital artist, made to make the digital girls gush. A "Must Hear" for all lovers of dark electronic. To make things better the tranquilizing vox add a sexy appeal in a dark and twisted sense. - digital girl / http://www.myspace.com/darkdigitalgrl

How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It already has changed the music industry. In a good and bad way.It helps unsigned artist/labels get out to a wider audience. You can build a loyal fanbase from free sites like myspace,soundclick,mp3.com etc.. without even buying a domain name. The downside is for the more mainstream artist/groups since their material is all over p2p's.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes, I would love sign to a major label, but Most likely I would sign with a indie label.I wish I could work out some distrubition deal where I could still produce all my music they would just distribute/sell/promote my cd's.
